Normal if people are getting you down alot, which is often for everyone, I think. I have the same issue and don't feel that it is especially abnormal.

Trust is so important in a relationship or any kind. Although you may have been hurt in the past (and I know that what I'm about to write is easier to write than to do) you should try, very hard, to overcome your trust issues. Because trust is the corner stone of any bonding.
Good luck to you on the wonderful adventure of life !

It depend on your past, have people let you down or stabbed you in the back a lot in the past? If so, I can understand your trust issues.

In a materialistic society where most people have relative ethics, it's very normal. Best wishes in finding friends who aren't Machievellian.

Depends upon who you associate with and what the issues are.

I used to be a "trust most everyone" kind of person. Not any more. You get burned enough times - you realize that you can't be so trusting. As I have always heard it said - "fool me once - shame on you - fool me twice - shame on me". I am very cautious now.

This day and age..yes for many people that is the normal thing.
With so many people from broken homes that grow up expecting the same. Add in that so many people were sexually abused as kids...that's a lot of reasons for mistrust.
    Sad but true.

yes it is normal because people are really hard to trust because once you give them your all, they have the intense power to hurt you and then your upset because you trusted them, and from there it's hard to trust again...

For all of us it is something we have to deal with most all our life. I was fortunate to have parents that I could trust as well as siblings. We didn't always get along but that is normal. Early in my life I found that it made little sense not to trust someone I didn't know unless something inside me told me they were trouble. So what I did was simply trusted until they proved they could not be trusted. You will be very surprised how few prove out that they are not trustworthy if you simply let them.

For the ones that prove they can't be trusted...they lose, not you. Always give them the benefit of the doubt. As you go through life it is impossible to never be hurt by someone. It is as much a part of life as breathing. But when you find the one's you can trust it is so very well worth waiting for. And always remember this. If you never trust anyone you can indeed drive them away without ever knowing what they are really like. In that case you are the one who may loose.

I think it is especially when someone you trusted has proved untrustworthy.

Yeah, but like with a new boyfriend or a new friend... I always think they're going to lie to me as soon as I start trusting them.

I guess the best thing to do is to trust them until you have good reasons NOT to trust them. I was always very trusting until I got hurt a few times and now I don't trust too many people.
