About seven years ago an ENT gave me a hearing test. ( was not taking and meds) I could not hear very low high pitch sounds. In the last few months the crickets have gotten louder. May be meds maybe just going deaf, NOT ALWAYS EAR WAX. there are hearing aids that balance the sounds guess that is next.

Yes, a recent and unsettling development. I am 55 and have no hearing loss. However, my left ear has had some inner pain for the last 4 months. Not an infection.

you've already gotten terrific info from other ppl here.Yes,it's called Titinitus(spelling?) i have an equilibrium disorder called vertigo(mennerie's).

Titinitus is one of the symptoms(can be). If you don't have any other symptoms outside of this ringing then chances are it's Titinitus itself-you don't have to have an equilirbrium disorder to have it (as far as i know).

It's more pronounced in my right ear(dunno why). some days are better than others. Check with Dr. i don't know that there are any remedies but they do come up w/ new treatments for different things all the time.Since yours is not related to anything else maybe the dr can help.

To begin with its not a problem. I am surrounded by men and women who hear it and seek it. If you are hearing it - its very special.

Hello, just popped on to google this really cool thing I've been dealing (or at least conciously noticing) since last march....I remember telling my friend I heard the summer bugs making noise already. Lately I tune into to the sounds a lot. What is your belief in regards to hearing these noises? I would love to hear. Thanks! Hope all is well in your world: )

What? I can't hear you I've got a buzzing in my ears... I saw a doctor about this. He explained it as Tinnitus:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
Tinnitus can be perceived in one or both ears or in the head. It is usually described as a ringing noise, but in some patients it takes the form of a high pitched whining (cf. flyback transformer), buzzing, hissing, humming, or whistling sound, or as ticking, clicking, roaring, "crickets" or "locusts", tunes, songs, or beeping. It has also been described as a "whooshing" sound, as of wind or waves.

Don't use peroxide; a doctor told me to get a Water Pic to get excess wax out of my sons' ears when he was younger. We had to go in often for blocked ears before that. That's what the pediatrican used in his office. Just be sure to use warm water! Too hot or too cold can make you nauseated or burn your ear. We did this as needed about 5 or 6 times and the problem went away. DON'T buy the high pressure water pic,,,,,USE THE OLD KIND. Good luck!

My cousin is an RN and she just did this new thing on her dad who is 83 and has problems with his ears..she took a bees wax candle that is made to do this, and placed it in his ear and lite the other end and when it was about 3 inches from his ear she removed it and then opened the candle up, the middle is hollow, and all his ear wax was drawn in to the middle of this candle...anyone else ever hear about this?

Yes it's called candling; we tried it on our son with limited success. The non-jet water pic works so much better.

He did; the non jet water pic solved the problem! We haven't used it in over a year. He did not have the cricket noise though-check that out with a doctor, ok?

Vibratory Tinitus is what it sounds like though, some times caused my muscle contractions in the inner ear. Check it out on webMDhttp://symptoms.webmd.co...

Have you spoken to your doctor about a condition called tinnitus? An ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) doctor would be best. I've heard that William Shattner has suffered with it for years, too.

Once and the doctor was alittle jerk that just said "OH your ears are alittle red inside" and that was it. I dislike this guy ..I had a fungus infection on my foot and he wouldn't write a scrip for it, he said it was just cosmetic and my insurance wouldn't pay for the 280 dollar perscription. Well I called my insurance when I got home and they would pay, so I called the little idiot and he ordered the scrip. So I have never went back to him. I do need a good dr. they are very hard to find around here. My dad almost died this winter due to the idiot drs. around here.

I had a sound in my ears that sounded like a train. I wet cotton balls, put them in my ears, and it stopped. Try it!

Might it be air pressure building up and then releasing? I don't know, I'm not a doctor so I probably can't help. I sometimes use hydrogen peroxide when my ear gets plugged.

i use peroxide also..the wax in my ears doesn't come out normally, as a child I always had to get my ears flushed out at the dostors office...now I just use the peroxide. But I still have that ringing or crickets whatever ya want to call it.
