I found a dollar in the dryer this morning and I kept it. Do you keep money you find while doing laundry?

when I was a young lad, we used to go to the laundramats, look in the machines for change... usually find a dollar or two... then we would go to the Union Station (train Station) and check out the coin returns in the bank of pay phones there,, Musta been 100 phones,,, people in a hurry,, would leave change behind... Kept us in soda pop...

I think I'm like most people and do my laundry at home. If I find a money when I take out a load, what should I do? Run an ad in the lost and found for 2 cents I discovered in my wash machine at home? Or, if I were an apartment dweller and did my laundry in the basement where all the other poor slobs in the building go, what should I do? Tape the 2 cents to a piece of paper taped to the top of the machine with a message that I found them and if nobody claims ownership in 30 days, they belong to me? Or if I took my laundry to a laundromat and found money in one of their machines, would I take the 2 cents down to the police station and turn it in? They might arrest me for suspected use of an illegal substance. All I ever find in the laundry is a few coins.....unless of course I accidentally leave my wallet in a pants pocket, in which case there is no question of rightful ownership.

My mom does keep the money, and I think she should, too.

Put it in the Salvation Army kettle bank and then at Christmas time donate it to the Salvation Army.

i keep money i find anywhere . i found $135.oo in a grocery store once . found a $50 in a bar i was cleaning ; and a $20 outside my apt. door .

Sort of...it's usually the kids who leave money in their pockets and there is no way for me to determine who it belongs to so I keep it in a secret stash and then when they want money to go to the movies or whatever, I give them the money from the stash.

I do my own laundry, so it stands to reason that it's my money. Unless there is a pants fairy that leaves money in your pants pocket, I must have left it there.

we keep a jar next to the washer/dryer...any money found goes into jar for future washer/dryer
