Francis Bellamy (1855-1931)wrote the original Pledge in August 1892. The Pledge was published in the September 8th issue of "The Youth's Companion", the leading family magazine and the Reader's Digest of its day. In 1892 Francis Bellamy was chairman of a committee of state superintendents of education in the National Education Association. As its chairman, he prepared the program for the public schools' quadricentennial celebration for Columbus Day in 1892. He structured this public school program around a flag raising ceremony and a flag salute - his "Pledge of Allegiance". The original Pledge read as follows: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag andTothe Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all
Freedom (Christian Williamson 1997)
I can no more be bound than the hawk in flight. And I am the fires that burn in the night. And I am the shaking and quaking of the earth. And I am the water of the world's rebirth.
I am freedom, I am freedom, I am freedom, I am freedom.
I am no more contained than the waves on the sea. I cannot be chained, because I must be free. And I am the fire, that burns in all things. The bell that tolls with freedom's call, shake when you hear me ring.
I am freedom, I am freedom, I am freedom, I am freedom.
Can't they see their land in peace Can't they hear their songs once more Can't the waves of the sea Go to lie in the sands of the free land
It's not a matter of belief But the hopes seem to be gone And the waves of the sea Won't lie in the sands of a free land
Freedom deep inside their hearts They are pleading every day every night
Can you just forget the times When the kids could run outside With their games and their jokes With a smile and no fear in their faces
So they thought by playing hard Soon their god would take a chance And that justice would grow And it's strength would bring peace to their sorrows
Freedom deep inside their hearts They are pleading every day every night
And I know darling it's not one more tear Yes I know honey we'll have to leave Should we fight yes I will
Freedom deep inside their hearts They are pleading every day every night They want freedom deep inside their hearts They are pleading every day every night
I am a Republican Pagan. That doesn't mean I want the Mother Earth trampled on and polluted until we all die. That is so ridiculous. To even think that because I'm a Republican I couldn't possibly love the Mother and want to protect her. I do. My position is to live well, with as little harm to the Mother as possible. No matter what your Religious beliefs are please have a safe and happy 4th of July
the "Great Star Flag" which was flown at the U.S. Capitol Building in 1818
However, I WISH I could score some illegal fire works and set them off down by the river like my parents say they used to do.. *sigh* but the police, damn doughnut eating paper pushers, care more about fire works than the numerous murderers and pedophiles in my town, thus they will be on "high alert" in and around the fourth of July. God, I hate cops..
I intend to get hold of my neighbour's precocious and utterly obnoxious 6 year old kid, tie him to the largest rocket I can find and send him into orbit. After that totally satisfying experience I shall settle down with a very large whisky ( or three) and wish him a joyous time in the Heavens. Who knows-they may even name a star after him!

And we'll cookout, but with the temp forecasted to be around 108 degrees....We won't spend too much time outside. At least not in the day. Since it's only rained once since November 2, 2010....and that was in early May. So I don't think the $500 fine for firework use is worth it.
FENWAY BABY !!!!!!!!!... game on monday ^5 Playin bluejays. but comin up on Sat. to hang around do some shoppin. I Need A New *** yankees SUCK *** t-shirt
used to do the roof thing, but to many bad discs in the back.to many beers not a good idea these day's besides they moved the fire works downtown over the river,so alot of folks watch them from their boats.and from the baseball park, the Philharmonic is doing music to the fire works this year, should be abel to se some of it from home,or go to the beach and watch !!!
Dang, that sounds cool. I know no one in our area is doing anything. Two of the counties bordering ours have put 'zero tolerance' $1,000 fines for anyone caught using fireworks. Our county is only $500. But, it's pretty dry around here. Some people have lost homes not too far away, because of a cigarette thrown out of a car window.
