How should i say this bad news?

Minutes ago i received the news my grandmother just passed away.
I've always been horrible to give bad news of this nature, i dont know how to handle with it and i dont know how to tell my father.
My father didnt come back home yet and i've been trying to talk to him but it seems his phone is off.

Always try to give bad news the way you would prefer to receive it yourself. She's passed away, you don't believe she suffered, and you'll be there if he wants to lean on you for anything.

Tell him when he gets home and just be straight - Dad, I have bad news, GMa has just passed away. And then just be quiet
