How old should girls be before allowing them to wear make-up?

For me, it wasn't until I reached high school. I knew plenty of girls though that started wearing make-up in junior high. What do you think?

highschool sounds appropriate. but if they just want to play with makeup around the house when they are little that is a completely different thing

I agree. She could have taken her daughter to a professional to learn how to do it understated.

Girls should be allowed to wear makeup once they feel the want or need to. Makeup is a way of self expression, it should be allowed whenever they want.

I agree, but my mom had a big say-so, and she actually taught me how to put it one when she allowed to wear it. It turned out ok.
    Thanks !

My mom never taught me anything about makeup, I just stole hers and bought my own and starting wearing it and people always want me to do their makeup but my mom hates mine because I wear alot

That's too bad. It's best for parents to work this out with their daughters.
Hopefully, your mom will come around.

I started wearing make-up in Grade 7 I think that It's a girls personal choice on when they start wearing make-up.

I wish it were. I remember girls back when I was in school that would put make-up on before classes, and before going home, would take it off so their parents never know about it.
If parents and their daughters agree, it be better for both of them, IMHO.

Depends on the girl. When I was 13 I wore make up alot because I was very insecure about myself and it acted as a mask. Now I'm 17 and I rarely wear it because I am confident in my skin and I don't need make up to feel attractive.

Good for you. The question though is when girls should be allowed, not why they would wear it.

Freshman year of high school?Don't really know. I saw a little girl out shopping in Walmart with her mom, both were plastered with makeup, looking like big hooker and mini hooker. In fact, big hooker was giving me the eye.Gotta head back to Walmart!

That's up to the parents and the girl in question. I've seen usually by high school, many girls do wear some kind of make-up. As for Walmart, I don't shop there, so I couldn't tell you.
    Thanks!

Personally, I don't like make-up on women. Some apply it so badly or extremely heavily. Less is more and none is best.

beautiful women with no make up

Teach young woman that they are beautiful just as they are, with no make-up. A woman's real beauty comes from within.

Understood, but the question asks when girls should be allowed to start wearing it, that is if the girls in question want to wear it.
    Thanks!

Females don't stay girls forever, so your answer would be that while a girl is with her parents and underage, she shouldn't be allowed. Once an adult and on her own, make-up wearing is up to her.
    Thanks!

Yes, there are those who would. It's an individual decision like wearing a dress, so either way, I respect it.

    Thanks.

I can't speak for everyone but if I ever have daughters depending on how they act I'd let em use it when they get into middle school (where I live that starts in the 7th not 6th grade) or before if they're mature for their age like I acted when I was younger.
