How old should girls be before allowing them to wear make-up?

For me, it wasn't until I reached high school. I knew plenty of girls though that started wearing make-up in junior high. What do you think?

highschool sounds appropriate. but if they just want to play with makeup around the house when they are little that is a completely different thing

I think 13 is a reasonable age for some items, like lipgloss/light lipstick, mascara, light eyeshadow, concealer (if there's acne or dark circles), and a bit of blush. Anything goes at 16. Nail polish and lipbalm don't count as makeup. Exceptions are made for on stage. I didn't start wearing makeup more often until I got into acting when I was 14/15.

I made them hold out until they were 15, didn't seem to hurt them. Anyway, all my girls are beautiful with or without makeup.

I think whenever the person wants to start wearing makeup they should be allowed. It's their body they're allowed to put whatever they want on it and its not right for someone else to tell them otherwise.

That's true when you are on your own, but when you live with your parents and are underage, they do get some say-so. Hopefully, it's something that both the girl and parents can agree on. Thanks!

16? I've seen 10 years old wearing make up and I thought "What the... . Child beauty pageants?!" horrible, horrible, first, some don't have knowledge yet how harmful make up can be for your skin 2nd how to apply make up 3rd. ur limit, too much is too much.
a little bit is fine, like for covering pimples or using lipgloss, but mascara and stuff... nah that's a bit too early

I started when i was 14 , i wore make-up before but it was only a little on eyelids , i stopped and really wore in junior high . I think junior high is good .

No two girls are alike. There are some 12 year olds that are more mature than some 18 year olds, so I don't think there is one correct answer.

Not for me. Vaseline can be used as lip gloss.

i was allowed to start wearing makeup in 7th grade, and i think thats a good age, if its only a little bit. foundation and cover-up stuff can wait till high school. in 7th grade all i wore was eye-makeup and maybe lipgloss if i felt like it.

8-11 for sheer lip gloss, 12-13 for slight color (like light pink or copper that shows up just a little),14-16 a little bit more color that stands out and a little bit of eyeliner and eyeshadow applied lightly (nothing heavy), 16 deeper lipstick colors (maybe even matte if not too dark) mascara and eyeliner applied heavier, 17+ darker lipstick (like crimson or so) mascara heavy eyeliner/eyeshadow. i think thats about right. :)
