I get a card and some food and we make dinner and eat in front of the fireplace. That's about it. We don't need to spend hundreds of dollars to let each other know we love each other.

Valentine's Day has never been for me. I was a florist for years so I never had a proper V-day; always running around for others for an excruciating 3 day sucks-ass-marathon.

I waste not 1c on this over rated holiday geared to target nothing but your wallet. If you truly love someone a box of chocolates, an ugly greeting card or bouquet of roses is'nt going to prove anything. It's your words, actions and the time you spend together that really count more than anything........

Cards are definately a waste of money these days. They've more than doubled in price and 98% of them are just down right ugly. Years ago you could get beautiful cards for a lot less money. I'm surprised that you're able to find any worthy of taking a photo of lol.....

In my opinion (and my OPINION only) Valentines Day is silly. People run out spending a lot of money on heart shaped necklaces/earrings and candy for what? To prove that you LOVE your significant other? I know I will probably get a lot of flack for my opinion but I just think all of these Valentine trinkets is just unnecessary. How many heart shaped products does one need?

I don't really have a set budget, but if the gift is something I know he will need and appreciate, price doesn't matter. My husband recently retired from the Army and got him a flag shadow box. A letter he received said that he is getting a flag in a few weeks.
