I've been to some over-the-top birthdays and I have enjoyed them. I've also been to (and thrown some) fantastic birthdays at the park. There is no right answer, but think about your child first!

I've put together some fun posts on my blog about how to throw a party on a budget, let me know what you think.

In my view never spend more than you can afford nor so much you have to use credit to pay for it.

I think £150 is pushing it, and £200 is OTT.

I was getting my 10000 steps when I went into Patterson Park" in east baltimore. This is a "high income" area. I met up with a birthday party in progress in playground area, they hyad cake, ice cream, soda, cameras, paper plates & cups. one big trash bag !! I volunteered to take pictures for them all! The hostess told me all these goodies cost about $50.00 for 30 kids & 7 adults !! NOT BAD !! you really don't a bundle !!

I don't think you have got to spend a bundle of cash to have a good time and still enjoy the memories of it.

If you're hitting 3 figures you've lost me. You can throw some amazingly fun parties for kids on a small budget. In fact I'm about to do it now for 7 little girls. Planning, reusing, and combining funds is a great way. little girl party

if you're rich it doesn't matter, if you're working to put food on the table, then the park is a great place to have a party. it has a nice open space, kids can play, eat, run around.

It depends what you are doing, how many are coming, i use to have my daughter party at leap and bounds, discovery zone, major magic, but with friends and family.
If I had it at home it was mostly family, somethimes I invite cousins.
They are memories I will enjoy.

It just depends on the age of the child and how much money you have. Sometimes a big party is not age appropriate even if you have the money for it.

You don't have to spend loads of money to make most people/children happy. Simple things can do the same thing if you have loving friends and familes.

..... simply a matter of your wallet.

Some have it and can't spend enough ... others haven't and spend accordingly.

Small + Simple works for me.

I know i have voted ion the 4 figure sum but i did not have another option for a smaller amount but really one should only spend a reasonable amount a few treats for the kids i would think just a few hundred dollars would be enough please do not think or even give your children the idea that money grows on trees (i say children because they are the ones who are going to have the party) Money is very hard to come by and if you have a few children and money gets scarce the second party would not be as good as the first one and the child would think that he or she was not liked as much as the first one (party wise) so i would think give a party and some goodies but keep it simple and most of all give loads of love to your children and be there for them.

If you can't throw a party on your own, there's a major issue somewhere. Minus going broke that is.

Thousands of dollars on a party...one single party...wasteful.

My family has thrown budget parties my entire life. The success or failure of these parties was not dependent on the money spent.

I'd say if you're pushing $100 you're spending too much.
Coupon, have the party at your house, use already available to you dishes that you can wash instead of toss out... the only thing you should ever be spending money on is possibly the food.... but even with that we generally use stuff from our garden...Why buy a cake when you can make your own for a heck of a lot less money?
Heck, I'd say $50 or less. Definitely less.

If you have the extra cash and you don't go into debt to do it, who cares if you spend 3 million bucks on a party. I don't care what kind.
