It varies to different people but in this country, too many people are more worried about what someone else has or makes than worrying about their own. If someone makes over $200k and they are barely making it, others that make significantly less seem to think that that person shouldn't be crying.. money is all relative to each person.. one might be upset over losing $10 and another might feel the same over losing $1,000. Living comfortable is for each person to figure out and no one else..
comfortable living could mean differnt things to people. i live comfortable i don't have millions or yachts. but what i have is mine and i have money in the bank and my roof dosen't leak i own a bit of land where i live. and i owe no one.
In todays economy and prices, I would say a 100 million should suffice for most, if you can't live comfortably on 100 million, then something is wrong with you.
I understand a house can be purchased for 40 million and then a private jet and yachts and so on, so a 100 million can be blown very quickly, but I'm not talking about living extravagantly, I'm talking about living very comfortably.
Candy Spelling, widow of television giant Aaron, has listed the Manor, Los Angeles' largest, and arguably most opulent, house up for sale at $150 million, out-pricing every other listed home in the country. Just down the street the owner of a sprawling classical style marble mansion is asking for $125 million, making it the second most-expensive home in America. Yet another home for sale is in the triple-digit millions, a massive but secluded $100 million Lake Tahoe ranch.
