How Much Do You Spend on a Date?

Have you ever been called a "cheap date"? Well, it turns out, dating is anything but cheap in major U.S. cities. According to Business Insider, Deutsche Bank has some staggering figures on how much it costs for two movie tickets, soft drinks, a cab ride, a couple of beers and a bouquet of roses the next day in cities around the world. In U.S. cities, you're lucky not to spend $200.

In New York City, a "cheap date" costs $183.01, which includes $111.52 for delivery of a dozen roses, $24 for two movie tickets and $9.50 for a cab ride. San Francisco is almost just as bad, with a "cheap date" leaving a hole in your pocket worth $178.04. The roses are the same as in New York, the movie tickets are slightly cheaper ($21) and the cab is about the same ($9.26).

You'll save a little bit of money in Chicago, where a "cheap date" goes for $169.73. The roses are still the same and the cab is cheaper ($5.61), but movie tickets are even more expensive ($30 for two). Whoa -- after a night like that, we think we'd skip the roses. 100 bucks just to give someone 12 roses? That seems pretty steep. How much do you typically spend on a date?

Wow, maybe it's time to lower your standards and stop sucking money out of your date.

If he spent $50, I guess you would hate him.

No, we have been together for a year and a half and he has spent 50/less on me before, I appreciate everything he does for me even if he doesn't spend a dime.
    Thank You.

On average, but it fluctuates wildly depending who I'm dating and how long it's been going on. Anyone who has a single answer for this is probably a boring date.

Not necessarily, it could be that both people are perfectly happy spending as little as possible to achieve happiness. Example, my husband and I both enjoy going to the movies, but we both know that spending between 14-22 bucks for two movie tickets sometimes just isn't in the budget. So we compromise and wait till it hits the discount theatre. We still get to see the movie - and a lot of times we're glad we didn't spend THAT much money. And we HAVE gone to expensive places (when we were able to afford to do so) - we went to a place called The Melting Pot (that was about 100-150 for two of us) if I recall correctly. And a date doesn't always have to include dinner, movie, flowers. Just getting out of the house and wandering around in the mall or going to the zoo can be a date - it's all what you make of it.

    Depends on the (wo)man.
Some people are worth more than $50, but that is rare.
If a person is dating you so you can dump money into her/him then the person is just using you for your money.

First dates don't have to be expensive, and I always paid my own way. A tennis date would be great.

Whatever it takes ;). Hahaha, actually it is what it is, I don't put a limit on it. If it's going well, then the tab keeps going up. If not, well the bar tab doesn't get rung up too high as the night gets called a little early.

Well that's sweet, and of course your wife deserves the best, but what about when you didn't know who deserved your best? How much did you spend on a date to get to know someone new?

A first date? 50-100 dollars? When I was younger I couldn't have afforded that though.

We only go out on a date maybe once or twice a year. DVD's and microwave popcorn is usually the route we go. :)

I have an amazing boyfriend who always pays. Dinner out is always at least $50. A night on the town nowadays runs $100's. He let's me buy breakfast or lunch occasionally and I can tell he hates it. He's a real gentleman, I am a lucky girl!

Actually, that would depend on a whole bunch of things....looks, attitude, sense of humor, the way they dress, act, their past...silly question...all of the above should have been a choose.....and b4 someone thinks I'm shallow, those are not in any particular order....sense of humor, and smile top my list....followed quickly by boobs then how horny I was....ha ha...j/k.
