How Much Do You Spend on a Date?

Have you ever been called a "cheap date"? Well, it turns out, dating is anything but cheap in major U.S. cities. According to Business Insider, Deutsche Bank has some staggering figures on how much it costs for two movie tickets, soft drinks, a cab ride, a couple of beers and a bouquet of roses the next day in cities around the world. In U.S. cities, you're lucky not to spend $200.

In New York City, a "cheap date" costs $183.01, which includes $111.52 for delivery of a dozen roses, $24 for two movie tickets and $9.50 for a cab ride. San Francisco is almost just as bad, with a "cheap date" leaving a hole in your pocket worth $178.04. The roses are the same as in New York, the movie tickets are slightly cheaper ($21) and the cab is about the same ($9.26).

You'll save a little bit of money in Chicago, where a "cheap date" goes for $169.73. The roses are still the same and the cab is cheaper ($5.61), but movie tickets are even more expensive ($30 for two). Whoa -- after a night like that, we think we'd skip the roses. 100 bucks just to give someone 12 roses? That seems pretty steep. How much do you typically spend on a date?

Next time, go by yourself to the range. It's more fun that way and you have money left over to go again.

It depends on the date your on! Is a hamburger date where you go to a "Fosters Freeze" or "Red Lobster" it would depend on what a guys date feels comfortable with. And now days if you take her to some place like "Red Robin" it'll run forty to fifty bucks, that's with a movie and dinner included! Of course to me thats treatin a girl like a lady. But, from what I have observed in the last decade or so, guy's don't know the meaning that, what with wearing their pants below there asses and some of the girls are "Libbers"! Again this is just the opinion of a older guy. Its hard to change after so many years.

I live in NYC and never spent anything ridiculous for a date. Wait until hyperinflation kicks in, due to QE3, thanks to the Federal Reserve Banking System! No one will be able to afford to date, people will be lucky to afford to eat! Most of my money spent for dates is for transportation and food.

If my husband and I can afford it, of course we like to go somewhere nice (Olive Garden/Red Lobster) but honestly, we have have just has much fun going to a $2 movie (discount theatre) and grabbing some Ihop after the show was over. I'd say our average is about 25-30 bucks for one of those kinds of dates. :)

    Whatever happened to going Dutch??

This worked for several years as a "liberating" factor for women, but after a while, the gals slipped back to letting the guys pay the whole tab again.

I took my 13 year old daughter on a date to a sports bar. Spent 20 bucks on food. I had a couple beers and she had some lemonade. We watched the Kentucky/Louisville game. Was a great date.

I took my wife on a date and spent 200+ bucks. Good food and good beer.. but was too much $. Then I got yelled at when she saw the bill.

    You just can't win.

Fair to say that if you don't shell out, they won't put out. It's nothing aginsr the other person I am dating, I just mean that if you can't make it over $50, you shouldn't be dating, because less then that and you can't really do a whole lot. This shows several bad things to a potential partner, cheapness, noncommital attitude, and just overall what you really value their company and time at.

Would rather cook and go cinema, most of the time it even tastes better.

Besides I'd rather take my mum out and spend crazy on her (in a non creepy way) and be a 'cheap date' to some girl I'm trying to know.

For a first date I'd say $20-50 is good; enough so they know you're not a punk but little enough so they don't expect you to throw money at them 24-7.

At my age. Here is a story: A Laotian man of 25 is in Paris dating? a French girl of 18 and he invites her in French to eat his style of food, but she answers I don't like Laotians. I think Paris must be smarter, more sophisticated and more expensive than Bangkok.

Depends, but most of my boyfriends have never let me pay for dates lol so I guess this doesn't really apply to me. And believe me, I offered to pay many times & meant it! My current boyfriend always pays though.
