How Much Do You Spend on a Date?

Have you ever been called a "cheap date"? Well, it turns out, dating is anything but cheap in major U.S. cities. According to Business Insider, Deutsche Bank has some staggering figures on how much it costs for two movie tickets, soft drinks, a cab ride, a couple of beers and a bouquet of roses the next day in cities around the world. In U.S. cities, you're lucky not to spend $200.

date

In New York City, a "cheap date" costs $183.01, which includes $111.52 for delivery of a dozen roses, $24 for two movie tickets and $9.50 for a cab ride. San Francisco is almost just as bad, with a "cheap date" leaving a hole in your pocket worth $178.04. The roses are the same as in New York, the movie tickets are slightly cheaper ($21) and the cab is about the same ($9.26).

You'll save a little bit of money in Chicago, where a "cheap date" goes for $169.73. The roses are still the same and the cab is cheaper ($5.61), but movie tickets are even more expensive ($30 for two). Whoa -- after a night like that, we think we'd skip the roses. 100 bucks just to give someone 12 roses? That seems pretty steep. How much do you typically spend on a date?

Why is it that guys have to pay and "Kiss Ass" to the broad on a date? This is the 21st century and aren't we all equal?

I'm married, but my husband and I have occasional date nights. It's almost impossible to have a decent meal for 2 at a good restaurant, without spending at least $50. If you add anything for entertainment you'll reach $100 or more in no time.

You don't have to spend your entire paycheck to have a good time. The main point is that you enjoy each other's company.

In all honesty, my honey & I are both pretty cheap dates. Starbucks & conversation are a lot nicer than any movie & fancy dinner. Besides, I cook bettet than restaurants.

A nice meal a d two theater tickets will run you over $50 today. 40 years ago a cheap date would run $10 to $20. Now that will get you 2 hamburgers and a walk in the park, if you can find a park near by.

I have been married for many years, so I have not been on the dating scene! Last year I did have dinner with a woman I had worked with. The bill came to well over $100.00 at a nice restaurant and the two of us did have two drinks each. I do not know how young people do it. The movies were less than $1.00 each when my wife and I dated many years ago. The popcorn was 25 cents.

I really wouldn't care how much the date costs to be honest. Just spending time with someone that I found interesting would be enough.

If it's dinner and a movie, it can go above 50 dollars, but my boyfriend and I usually split the date costs unless one of us decides to treat the other. But most of the time, we both just need a break and decide to split the costs, so I guess the overall total is around $100...but I usually only pay around $50.

I didn't see this option, and it would probably depend on whether it's dutch treat or not.

It depends on who it is, what time of year, and how creative I feel. I used to avoid cliche dinner/movie dates. I would go for long walks or hikes, fly kites, fire off model rockets, play board games, get coffee or go to a dark, quiet bar. Most of these things would end up costing between $20-50 anyway.

I'm in my 80s now, and my wife and I don't date as much any more. But dinner the other night did run over $100 (before tip). Meanwhile, I do miss the "necking" in the car as per about 63 years ago. We come straight home from dinner these days.

The real answer is "as much as necessary". You go out and do various things, ech one has a different cost. If you go to the park it is a low cost date , to go to a nice restaurant it gets more expensive.
