I'm 59, I was 12. My dad wasn't there for us kids, even when he came home each night, my mom wanted to smother me, so I avoided her like the plague. My classmates made fun of my size because I stayed at 4'0" from 9 to 13, so after I kicked the crap out of the class bully and his cronies the first day of school, I didn't associate with anyone there either. The shrinks thought I was going to be a classic hikikomori, but I loved learning too much. I never missed a day of school, even when I'd walked out of my house for a few days and was crashing in the wild.
Been married longer than I ever lived alone now.. But, I refer to what Suzanne, has said below. " I’ve lived alone a couple of times even when married. There exists ways in life to live alone and to feel alone even with the presence of others. However, if speaking of companionship one can be alone." I couldn't say it better than she has.. Thank Suz...
Come to think of it, I suppose, I’ve lived alone a couple of times even when married. There exists ways in life to live alone and to feel alone even with the presence of others. However, if speaking of companionship one can be alone. But in truth, one’s not alone (St. John 16:32 (AV). If only we knew who walks beside us?

Haven't lived alone in almost 37 years. When I first left home at 18 I had a roommate for a year. Then I chose to live alone until I married 3 years later.
As a woman- If I did live alone, I certainly wouldn't post it on the internet for the world to know. I hope other women agree with me on this. Sorry but that's a dangerous ? to answer!!!
Been on my own from the time before I turned 18 ..
