How long do you wait to text someone back, especially if it's someone you're interested in? A new poll about texting and dating from U.K.-based mobile news site Recombu finds that most men will respond to a text from a woman within one hour of first receiving it, How About We reports.

The findings, which were first reported by Mashable, also show that after the first hour, there's a smaller -- but still fairly good chance -- the guy will respond within the next 24 hours. If he hasn't responded by the next day, the chances of him replying within two days, or by the next week, are small -- more likely than not, he won’t reply at all. (We've all been there.)
As for women, like men, most will reply to a text message within an hour of getting it. However, unlike men, if they don’t respond within an hour, they're almost just as likely to reply within 24 hours. Yup... it's called playing hard to get. We've often wondered about texting etiquette, and not just when you're dating. Since text messages are so immediate, is there an obligation to write back as soon as you receive it? Or is it OK to wait an hour or two... maybe even a day?

People call that number, I screen it, and only answer if I feel like it.
EDIT: In regards to a romantic partner, or potential romantic partner, if I'm at work they're not getting a response until work is over for the day. I might check it at lunch, or I might not--I might work through lunch. But even then, I might not want to respond after midnight.
Now, I've got a place to stay, but no girlfriend--it's better that way.
Oh, and to explain the other thing. I work from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. (roughly). Work isn't a place you should be answering any calls from anyone! Lunch is after midnight, and that 's kinda late to be calling most people anyhow.
TXT ME LATER CANT YOU SEE IM SPEEING!!!!!!
