How great of an age difference between two in a relationship is too much?

if two people in a relationship love each other, then they would not care about their different ages. But if the age difference is like, ten or twenty years, then I think they should be a little cautious. Two or three years are not such a big deal...

Ten years up, ten years down is a good age difference and also a good middle ground for either of their maturity levels, as long as they are both over eighteen years of age.

My opnion is, if the other person is young enough to be one of your children or old enough to be your parent - there's too much of an age difference. With such an age - and generation - gap that big, what in the world would the two of you have in commom?

Actually it does matter my friend was 16 she was with a 18 or 19 year old they called the cops on him & they can't be together, same with me i was with a 19 year old i was told that i can get in so much trouble when i was 16 never doing to again. So basically you can get in trouble & possibly go to jail.

For most people, however much they are comfortable with as long as it's legal. For me... I'm only comfortable with someone within a year or two of my age.

Age difference shouldn't matter as long as one isn't a minor and the other an adult. Also, it should be a real relationship and not someone with someone else waiting for them to die to get their money.

I say it depends on how mature the younger one is. But as a general rule it's around half the older person's age plus 7.

So 30 year old dating an 18 year old is creepy because 1/2 of 30 is 15 + 7 is 22. So 22 is the magic number for 30 year olds.

But 50 year old date a 35 year old is not se creepy because 1/2 of 50 is 25 + 7 is 32.

(This is just a general rule.)

Really depends on how old they are, and what they think is "too old". My fiance is 4 years older than me.

I guess it just depends on the people involved. I prefer men who are five to ten years older than I am. That's just my preference. I think above 20 years might be stretching things a bit.

Well I myself had just gotten out of a relationship and the guy I was with was three years older than me and my parents told me he was too old for me. Three years is not that bigg of a difference...and it sometimes does depend on what the other person thinks that other people would say about the aga difference too.

It depends on your age. If for example you're 14, and the guy is 17 years old, or if you are 15 and the guy is 18, then yes he is too old. Once a guy hits 18 he can be in big trouble being with someone who is underage. And some of these older guys, pervs that they are will be more willing to take advantage of a teenage girl. That's probably what your parents are worried about. Most guys who are older who date teenagers want to get in their pants and not much else.
