Summer is here, but soon enough students will be heading back to school. Of course, it's always a good idea to get as much of that back-to-school shopping done as you can ahead of time, but that's not always how it pans out. There's so much ground to cover, and classes have a tendency to creep up on you. Before you know it, you're sitting in math class without a calculator. Not an ideal situation, but hey. Sometimes that's just how it goes.

Whether you're a current student or the parent of a student, we want to know about your back-to-school shopping habits. Do you always manage to get it out of the way before school starts? Do you have your kids buy their own supplies? Who influences the purchase decisions? Take our 10 question Quick Poll and let us know. We'd love to hear from you!

I always forget something on my list. And halfway through the school year I always need to replace something.

Perhaps I am confused. Are you a teacher or a student?

I am a parent who gives a crap about their kids future and would rather invest in them personally than have a stranger invest in them!

Oh I see. I thought you were a student who was lucky enough to be home schooled. Public education is a complete hell hole.

The teachers don't tell us exactly what we'll need until the first week. Some is always done in September as a result. Restocking is done year round.

Right before I'm about to take whatever course I'm going to take.
I don't have any "school-age" children. My son is in college. He plans to go to school year-round for the forseeable future, so he can get his bachelor's degree in less than four years.

But only if I think about it, of course. Otherwise, I'll be scrambling a few nights before.

I'm a teacher now so I don't have the money to shop until August 31st when we paid for the first time since May 31st. My daughter learned to play the bass clarinet because of that. I was supposed to take her to get her instrument but I wasn't getting paid until 2 weeks after school started. Then right around payday I actually contracted "swine flu", so the school had bass clarinets and needed students to learn to play them and that became her instrument. Also it's really hot here through October and I could never see buying warm weather clothes in August anyway. I try to get her the basics before the first day such as something to wear, book bag, and some supplies but I have to save the bulk for later.

Most of what I need for the college semester goes on crazy sale somewhere around this time. Also, some things needed aren't stocked as well until this time - book bag/messenger bag, for example.

I've done this now for so many years, I know everything they will NEED way beforehand. I hate shopping, so I spend as little time doing it as possible.
