How Far Into the Year Do You Do Back-to-School Shopping?

You!
Add Photos & Videos
Summer is here, but soon enough students will be heading back to school. Of course, it's always a good idea to get as much of that back-to-school shopping done as you can ahead of time, but that's not always how it pans out. There's so much ground to cover, and classes have a tendency to creep up on you. Before you know it, you're sitting in math class without a calculator. Not an ideal situation, but hey. Sometimes that's just how it goes.

Whether you're a current student or the parent of a student, we want to know about your back-to-school shopping habits. Do you always manage to get it out of the way before school starts? Do you have your kids buy their own supplies? Who influences the purchase decisions? Take our 10 question Quick Poll and let us know. We'd love to hear from you!

When I was a kid, we would do our shopping off and on. A new outfit here, binders there, and so on. My mom would put everything away, including the new clothes, in her closet to make sure I wouldn't mess them up before school started.

Now that I'm in college I tend to buy things as I need them.

I usually have to go back to the store thoughout the school semester to pick up more paper, pencils and notebooks. There alway seems to be something that I need to get or restock especially paper, pens, and pencils.

August, so we still get it in time, but we don't have to shell out the cash as there are aplenty of Back To School sales.
Truly, though, if you want to get the lowest price, you should do your shopping either right after back to school sales, or when school gets out and no one needs that stuff anymore. Albeit, there are not as many options, but the demand is so low, it's dirt cheap.

In August I get the basic supplies such as binders, folders, pens, pencils, etc. but I might get some things later if I figure out that I need them after the class starts.

How about a "Never" option for people who a) aren't at school, & b) don't have kids at school?

Summer is so short now it seems awful that you are asking these questions before many are even out for the few weeks the get off. It seems though, like any time of year is a good time to stock up on items you know you will need or use and if they are a good price or something that looks like it would be great to have for school. But, gee, lighten up, give them a few weeks before pushing next year.
