I am happy to be back in school. I was getting tired of being at home and not bieng productive with my time. But I am missing spending time with my family, I hardly see them now. I can do without all the stress school is giving me too.

And starting in August sucks. I'm going to present my case to the school board, not that it will make any difference this year, but having Labor Day so early should mean that the schools start after the weekend break.

I don't have any kids personally, but school would run year-round with two-week breaks in between four quarters if it were up to me.

Kids actually learn better and retain more information that way too. It's better than using the entire first quarter re-teaching everything they learned the year prior. And they still get the same amount of time off as they would with summer vacation.

I agree! I bet if they used this method, our schools would be the envy of the world again.

Is this necessarily a bad thing?

I get the whole issue with illegal immigration getting worse than it already is, but we as a country are SO FAR behind the rest of the world as it is.

Anytime I hear someone complain about illegal immigration, I ask them what Indian tribes they belong to.

I am sad. I am off work on Wednesdays so my 15 year old daughter and I would take in a movie or something together. Now I have to wait for free time on the weekend.

How about the "other" option. How about the constant complaining about poor food, too much homework, getting picked on, calls for parent teacher conferences and an over all negative environment that breeds an anti-establishment attitude in teens filled with plenty of stress filled back talk to parents. That and if the have stuff in they afternoon, you have to pick them up too. Some break.

I am so darned ready for the little ones to be back in school because it allows me to go to the beach and they will not be there. I can go on a cruise and they will not be there. I can go to the grocery store and they will not be there. I can go to the movie during the week and they will not be there.

    Neither choice is completely right.

My daughter will be entering the 7th Grade. I work full time outside the home so I'm looking forward to her returning to school and expanding her mind.

I am NOT looking forward to all the activities that go with school, project deadlines, money due for everything from pictures to the dreaded School Supply List and the dreaded Fund Raisers.

I don't think my parents really care, I usually just stay in my room reading, drawing, writing, stuff like that. I'm an only child, and I'm quiet, so the house isn't any louder.

They probably care, just not telling you that they do. Parents should tell their kids more often that they love them.

It's really scary to send them to school with everything that is going on. My granddaughter is in 9th grade this year. She lives with me. I fear for all the kids in the schools.

Well, I'm not a parent. But I'm ready to go back to school, I recently did a simple math question and I forgot one of the most easy steps of solving it. I'm going to be a Junior at an entirely new high school that luckily my best friend goes to. So, even though she's a year younger, it'll still make the school seem better.

Plus, if you count august, I've had about 5 months of Summer Vacation, That's too much.
