I hurt for all involved. I will probably receive a lot of flack for this, buuuuuut, I am glad he survived. He will obviously, and SHOULD go to prison, probably executed, but he almost left this earth doing a horrible, evil deed, a real commandment breaker. At least now he has time to reflect on what he has done and ask for forgiveness. His soul came so very close to being lost for eternity. The question is, if he never comes out of his coma and stays in a state of thoughtless darkness, how do you atone for your sin, how can he ask Jesus for forgiveness?

As for the poor victims, gosh, my heart just bleeds and my eyes well with tears. I have children in the military and I do not know if I could bear it if they would have been victimized in this incident. But the victims were good men and women--and though they will be deeply sadly missed and mourned by family and friends, I am sure they are in the arms of our Saviour as we speak, including the unborn soul. This is a tragedy for all.

Since he was in the military he will just get life imprisonment they do not execute under military law anymore.

I had a wise martial arts instructor who once told me that

"When a man entices you to act and you respond, you have given him the thing he desired whether he wins or loses."

If his intentions where to become a martyr by dying in battle, I believe it is good that he survived and will be judged and sentenced the same as any other murderer (maybe to death, but, not in the way he desired as a martyr).

I hope that him being alive well help the military gain valuable information as to why this occurred and help them prevent a tragedy like this from happening again.

It costs more to execute someone than to keep them alive.

More is involved with death penalty trials and they last longer. The automatic appeals that are filed cost more... a lot more. If the sentence is affirmed by the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the case is eligible for Supreme Court review.

They can't really give someone a dishonorable discharge because of suspicions. They have to have evidence. He actually tried to get out of the military (perhaps that should have raised some flags). It seems If someone wants out of the military they keep em in. If some one is being processed for discharge and they want nothing more than to stay in the military they will be kicked out. It seems that's how the military works.

Whether there were clues that they should have noticed is what they will be investigating now.
