How do you feel about giving 12-year-olds smartphones?

I didnt get a cell phone until i was 16, able to drive and incase of an emergency... I no longer have a cell phone and havent had one since 2010 when i got married

I think basic phones are fine for kids that age. Less chance of them being stolen, broken or misused.

I wouldn't even care if fetuses had smart phones...hell if we could seriously miniaturize the technology I'd let sperm in my nut sack have smart phones...and just to be fair the eggs in women's ovaries should be allowed to make phone calls as well.

Not only is it "fine" but it's none of my business or any of yours what kind of toys a 12 year old has. In no way does a 12 year old carrying a smartphone have any effect on your life or happiness one way or the other.

Most preteens lack the ability to make responsible choices.
Unfortunately there is also a portion of adults in that category as well :-D

My son did not get his first cell until he was 16 and my 14 yo does not have a phone yet. When I get a smartphone, they can sometime after that.
