One of my close friends told me that his mom almost killed him and killed his older brother when he was six. I had no idea, he sent me the whole news article and it made me cry. Its always been nothing but joking around when it comes 2 us, not i'm not sure how 2 act. Even when were being weird and crazy, i'll no about how much this hurt 4 him and idk what 2 do abou it.

We learned 'empathy' back in 6th grade and what you say is, "I can't imagine how you must (have) feel/felt. I'm sorry."
Then just go back to normal around him.

Not a good thing, even if your friend was joking. If it's a joke, I would re consider being friends. If it's no joke, try to help by suggesting counseling for your friend. I love your screen name.
