Bibles have been booted from The Damson Dene Hotel... and E L James’ BDSM erotica novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" has taken its place in every room within the English inn.

Upon request, the front desk of the hotel will provide bibles. TheFrisky goes on to write "...the replacement has caused much controversy, with people in the United States sending “quite a few e-mails quoting the scripture to [the hotel] and suggesting that it would be a good thing to put the Bible back.”

THEFRISKY.COM reports:

I mean, think about it - both the Bible and 50 Shades are popular works of fiction. 50 Shades just happens to be a bit more realistic.

That's really stupid. I'm not upset only about pornography replacing the Bible, but what if some kid happened to open it up and read all that filth? As a parent, I would be pissed. This is just a retarded stunt for publicity, which it obviously got.

Neither actually. Not every wants to read a Gideon Bible.
I imagine people will still be offended any way. why not save money and not put any books in the hotel room? Oh want the Gideon s always donated the bibles.
Let me think a moment, if bibles are in a hotel room does this mean the hotels are discriminating against other religions?

That book is nothing more than Twilight where Bella has a ball-gag and Pedward has a whip. If you really want to understand the inner world of BDSM, reading a pulpy fan-fiction is NOT the way to go about it.

Erm... atheism is not, properly, "faith in science." It's just doubt or rejection of supposed miracles and supernatural authority.

Some people hate established religions, for whatever reason, and take the label "Atheist" as a brand of defiance. But that is something else -- a cult built on foundations of hatred and false superiority.

I will grant, however -- if any "atheist" group were to contribute time and money to disseminating their message, it would be the hateful cult. They'd probably go with Dawkins' book.

Most folks think Science & Faith are (exclusive) polar opposites, both can get carried away. Instead view them as two sides of the same coin, using a variable gradient between them works much better than going to extremes.

If you want your religion represented, just do what the Gideons do: donate the books, and make sure to provide plenty of extras so the hotel is never put out providing clean copies in every room.

If it is not worth that kind of money to your religion's leaders, whose problem is that?

Is your religion the focus of your life? If so, maybe something like that could be your calling. It only took three people with a serious commitment to establish the Gideons.
