Bibles have been booted from The Damson Dene Hotel... and E L James’ BDSM erotica novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" has taken its place in every room within the English inn.

Upon request, the front desk of the hotel will provide bibles. TheFrisky goes on to write "...the replacement has caused much controversy, with people in the United States sending “quite a few e-mails quoting the scripture to [the hotel] and suggesting that it would be a good thing to put the Bible back.”

THEFRISKY.COM reports:
Christian Grey is damn near God-like — at least according to guests’ bedside tables in The Damson Dene Hotel.’

I mean, think about it - both the Bible and 50 Shades are popular works of fiction. 50 Shades just happens to be a bit more realistic.

They ought to have chosen a better book, maybe something that kids could also enjoy, but at least it's probably more entertaining than the bible.

I don't see what's so bad about that ... Only if it disposed of the Bibles, but if they gave them away to churches or something then that's ok, everyone deserves to have the Bible ... That's my opinion because to us muslims everyone has the right to have a copy of the holy Quran.

I have never found it appropriate that hotels provided a Bible in the first place. Not everyone who reads the Bible reads the same version. Also, if reading the Bible is important to them, they should bring their own. Bibles are highly personal. Basically, a book of strong views should not be a perk in a hotel room.

They were all gifts from the Gideon Society. The Hotels didn't buy them and add the charge to your bill anyway!

I never said they bought them. I didn't buy a Bible when I went to church. I was given one. Why don't you read what was actually said rather than getting all defensive over absolutely nothing?

You said they provided them. I told you how they got there no defensiveness about it. Just giving you information.

I agree completely. Last time I went to a hotel, they had books for Christians and Mormons - however im Jewish. I think they shouldn't waste money on them and people can bring their own. And even if that hotel didn't pay for it, I'm sure not all hotels get it as gifts.

This Hotel is located in the UK and as far as I'm concerned I don't care what they do. However I'm sure they will loose a large part of their family customer base and they deserve it. They can't step on the toes of family moral values and not feel the push back.

I'm assuming the hotel is doing this as a joke. If so, I have to admit it's pretty funny. Now, if they're totally serious...it's even funnier. I mean, you might as well replace it with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

SICK! You go from morality to immorality... With all the other things that are going on this country, I'd say we have become a sick nation and it won't be long before we're going to pay for it. I just pray, those that love God, hang onto him tight, because what is coming down the road isn't going to be hilarious. All those that think nothing is going to happen,,are going to regret their words...believe me.

That is just the sort of mythical warning that turns people off Christianity. Myth is myth, you choose to beleive, that is your business, everybody does not have to believe nor be subject to the dooms day preaching of the "true believers".

You don't have to believe, but that's not going to stop what is headed our way if we don't change.

No one is going to change and there is not going to be any "Action by God". This prediction has been going on for many thousands of years, even before Christianity.
You want to believe in it fine.
