Holiday Travel Is Up This Year: Will You Go the Distance to See Family?

The AAA 2012/2013 Year-End Holiday Travels Forecast shows that holiday travel will be up about 1.6-percent from 2011. Holiday season is notorious for congestion on roads, airports, train stations, and anywhere else people go to travel. But apparently, that's not stopping many for going out to see family and friends.

Some people might also be going on vacation. Depending on where they live, perhaps they're avoiding the bitter cold winter weather found in a few parts of the country. It's not just the congestion that could be a problem for travelers though. Sure, people tend to go travel somewhere during holidays when they have off at work, but that's not the only reason for delays.

Erratic winter weather can cause a lot of problems too. Rain, sleet, snow, and heavy winds can create delays and even for those that are very unlucky, some cancellations. If people opt to drive, that could be easier than going through airports and train stations, but if the weather doesn't comply, travel can be just as frustrating. But it looks like everyone will do that they have to do to see their loved ones during the holidays!
