We live on a spherical planet revolving around a sun that is in a sea of suns with life bearing planets. Earth is our home where we are born, live and die. We need to be careful and not poison our planet so live can continue to evolve.

It is nether, part of science should pick up a book that is very old, the other part of science is steadly proving the existence of God, so go figure.

Those appointed as the leaders of the faith have not always been christians, but political appointiees, and power was their main ambition, so anything that threatened their small sphere of influence was to be prevented, and that is the reason that some of those so called christians opposed science.

True christians are those that follow the teschings of Christ, hence the name christians. Christ never taught anything about the world being flat, and being a fisherman, he would have known that the earth was round every tine he watched a ship sail over the horizon.

Though Science is very important to us, it isn't all there is to this Universe. it should be understood by now that the Universe didn't just create its-self. It had to have been a being with a brillant mind to create it..

Though christianity has persecuted those who didn't agree with it, Christianity is a faith and therefore will accept things that don't sit unproven with a sceintific mindset.

they have come from a long history of claiming they know everything and that god is the answer to all things unknown. Science running around proving things turns all that upside down

wasn't the dark ages going on around the same time as the golden age of islam?
  • Chokmah reaper 2012/06/23 11:01:17

What has Islam done in the last 1,000 years?

Christianity arose out of the ruins of atheistic, secular, pagan societies in the ancient Roman Empire. All of Islam's allies, have abandoned them. All of Christianity's putative enemies have flocked to live among the Christians, like the Jews.

There really is no such thing as the Dark Ages, only ignorant people who do not know the history about certain periods. These ignoramuses are too lazy to study a little and find out history and then call these periods 'the Dark Ages'.

You know what the Jews did to the Christians before Rome shedded its paganism? Killed them! Christianity started out as a Jewish sect that the Sanhedrin were determined to eradicate. And yet the Jews flocked to Europe to live among the Christians. During the next 1500 years millions of Christians, Jews, and others died due to wars, revolutions, plagues, and invastions.. at times many societies tried to return to ethnic purity, like Israel is doing today. Oh well.

You know about the barbarian invasions and the sacking of Rome? The bubonic plagues and the Black Death? The Muslim invasions of Europe? The Viking terrorism that went on against the nation states of Europe and the invasions by Ghengis Khan and the Huns?

Europe was made up of a bunch of tribal states, quarreling princes, and warlords who could not present a unifed defense against all of the above calamities. The Bishop of Rome provided that centralized authority and decision making that protected Europe until the arrival of modern technology later developed at the very universities that the Church had founded and maintained for centuries.

Look at the world over the last 150 years and you will see a lot worse happen under the secular leaders of Anglo-Saxon Imperialism.

If it was not for christianity we would not be as advanced as we are. Because of Christianity the we have reading and writing much earlier than it would have been. Monks were the greatest impetus toward discovery of our world.

Gregor Johann Mendel (July 20, 1822[1] – January 6, 1884) was an Austrian[2] scientist and Augustinian friar who gained posthumous fame as the founder of the new science of genetics. Mendel demonstrated that the inheritance of certain traits in pea plants follows particular patterns, now referred to as the laws of Mendelian inheritance. Although the significance of Mendel's work was not recognized until the turn of the 20th century, the independent rediscovery of these laws formed the foundation of the modern science of genetics.[3]

Western civilization, the most copied civilization today, was a product of Christianity. All the nations of the world are now Westernized.

Meanwhile, the West now imports its scientists from India, China, and Pakistan. America is rapidly approaching a New Dark Ages under Obamaism.

And what was the first thing those "Christians" did upon arrival at the new world? Oh, yea, obliterate the natives. How Christian of them. Yes, you are correct. We are the model for the rest of the world. Preemptive war. So when they enact that model on us, don't be surprised.

What you are seeing is reproach of the past and a desire to change it against the unstemmed tide of radical conservatism.

You have no concept of what the Christians did first when they came to the New World. They did NOT obliterate the natives, in fact, they had little to do with that. Smallpox took care of about 75% of the natives and other European diseases took care of many more.

The Christians who came to the New World in the late 16th and 17th Centuries did not know about germs and viruses back then.. Louis Pasteur wasnt born for another couple centures and Joseph Lister came even later.

Today we are supposed to know better, but we are the worst threat to world peace even though America is still nominally Judeo-Christian.
