Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm assuming this is some "gay marriage" promotion.

Here in Japan, which has very few Christians, "gay marriage" isn't even being talked about. Most people see it as just too silly or insane to even consider.

So, obviously, it's not just a "Christian thing" to oppose "gay marriage."

Besides Japan, most of the world's countries are not even close to legalizing "gay marriage" -- and a great many of these countries are not predominantly Christian.

He shall never be caught!!................ and i dont think religion can own anything in the material world, and if your talking about those Christians that think they have a right to deny our free will then im with you!! god gave us free will the ability to chose him on our own and we have no right to deny the choices of other or forcefully try to change them!

It preceded Christianity, but that doesn't delegitimize Christian marriage.

Nah uh!?!? I'm just saying Christians shouldn't control who marries who because they don't have ownership of it.

With that I agree. As a philosophic Christian I have never wanted to deny marriage to anyone. In fact I don't even argue against polygamy.

Check the 31 states that voted the xtian view of marriage into their state constitutions. Each of them used the excuse, because the bible said so,...

Marriage is not an issue of should. It's a matter of common law handed down through the ages, along with religious practice in parallel. The definition of marriage has never been attached to any relationship that wasn't heterosexual in nature; and it's never even been attached to all heterosexual relationships.

In contemplation of law, judges will often refer to "the dictionary definition," "the common meaning," or "the plain and natural meaning" of a term in resolving an issue. Marriage has had a definition for thousands of years, on all populated continents, across all languistic, cultural, and religious barriers.

Now, in the past several decades, a tiny demographic steps up the plate and demands that "marriage" include them. The salient question is: Do we set aside established definitions for whimsical purposes? The answer from a thousand years of British common law (incorporated wholesale into American common law by the founding forefathers) is No! We absolutely do not toss aside well-defined terms in common law for ANY reason. We never have. Rather, it's the law that adjusts to the plain meanings of words, not the other way around.

You might find this interesting. It's a 2010 FOX interview with Ted Olsen after California's law banning same-sex marriage was declared unconstitutional. Ted Olsen is a leading conservative lawyer, served as Assistant Attorney General from '81-'84, argued Bush vs. Gore before the Supreme Court in '00, and served as Solicitor General under George W. Bush. The interview sticks to the legal issues and the Constitution as they relate to this issue.

Ted Olson's arguments assume that there is no reason to adopt the plain meaning of a word as it exists in society, the dictionary, and in hundreds of years of common law.

I do not make that assumption.

So you're going to let certain people be oppressed? It's called "change". It's not going to hurt anybody. We used to not be able to marry outside our race... That changed.
  • Georgia50 666_Mag... 2012/06/23 20:10:20
    Georgia50
It's not a necessary change. The gay community can and should adopt a legal term created to accommodate and define gay marriage. The term is spoken for. And there are gays who agree with me. Surely you will not argue there are gays who want to oppress gays?

hahaha. I made that arguement with someone who asked the question "do you think gays should be allowed to marry". My point was "Marriage was envoked before christanity arose". It was for civility: to create names, created families, to basically to try to act more 'humane'. Marriage is an evolution above the cave days.

the Pagan Version of the Adam and Eve story is the Sumerian Adan and Evo story

Adan means Atom Evo means Evo Genesis the Sumerian word for Evolution
the Story talks about the Gods Creating mankind from the Atom and Evolution

genesis sumerian evolution story talks gods creating mankind atom evolution

(Genesis 1:26) The [Elohim] said, "Let us make humanity in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild beasts and all the reptiles that crawl upon the earth." Elohim is a plural word, including male and female, and should properly be translated "Gods" or "Pantheon." (1: 27) The Gods created humanity in the image of themselves, In the image of the Gods they created them, Male and female they created them.

    Elohim means GODS and Goddess
