Game of Thrones features scenes with decapitated heads on stakes. The producers used a model of President George W. Bush's head -- but they insist they did not intend to make a political statement. They say they used whatever heads they had around.
"It's not a choice, not a political statement!" one of the writers insisted during the DVD commentary. "We just had to use what heads we had around...."
The producers also insisted that they didn't intend to make a political attack against the former president. The producers said, "We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk.... After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush. In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise."

What a crock of BS, even if that were the case they could have done something to disguise it. There is no way in h_ll they would have ever used a head of Obama like that and the idea that it was just a mistake that they carelessly disrespected Bush's image that way is disgusting.
Had some right leaning filmmaker done the same thing with an Obama head -- accident or not -- the left would have a bounty on their head today and there would be a firestorm in the mainstream media.
But instead of owning up to the action for what it is, HBO issues a meaningless apology and creates a "collectors" appeal for their first season GOT DVDs currently in stores saying that the content will be removed from future releases (not even recalling anything).
I've not seen the film but it is just as well because I'm reading the book, currently in Volume II.
What would they say if it were obama's likeness on the head on the spike? Would they even do it? Would they even think twice about doing it? Seems that they didn't put a whole lot about using Bush's head though. Shame on them!
What the hey? Maybe they thought that it was funny and nobody would notice!
HBO's Game of Thrones is hardly a low budget affair. They, as we say here in the southern U.S., "Sh!t, then stepped back in it." :o)
It really is a shame that the fantasy novels of G.R.R. Martin were brought into the current political realm. For that, I do blame the producers. Whom, I believe, lack the courage to back their conviction..among many in Hollywood.
