Have you lost a beloved pet?

Yes. I've lost several from growing up. One cat that I had as an adult on my own. I have 3 cats now and a water turtle that I've had since I was 19. I'm now 37! I'll have to will him to my daughter or something...LOL!

LOL on the turtle... glad he has lived so long...

Thanks Keeper. He's awesome! And some friends and I rescued him from a fish shop in China Town. San Francisco, CA. They were being sold for turtle soup. $3.00. In the pet store they cost $40! I love my Murray!

Keep and Sunshine...my heart goes out to you both!!! I have lost many over the years, and one of the most special to me last fall who I was just thinking of earlier today...we will never get over their passing, but we are so much richer for them sharing their lives and love with us.

Every pet growing up has suffered death, or my parents would get rid of the rest. I have a healthy mix breed cane corso lab red bone coon hound who is my best friend, I am overprotective, lol He is the first I have had since he left his mother. I just took in another one I am set on keeping, and while I dont have pics of the ones I have lost. I have pics of Jakiva my 5 month mix breed, and Brenda the rescue I just took in.

Dogs are only here on this earth for a short time. I've had some really good ones in my life. All we can do is make sure their short stay here is a happy one. It will come back to you ten fold.

Muggs looks like a cool & smart dog.

Isn't Ryder cool the way he plays soccer? That was his first game with experienced players 5 months ago. It is a 10 inch tire he uses.

Since then he had 4 months of practice with the youth soccer league. He has gotten much better and is the only dog in town that has a "player card"

After I lost Bandit then Cheyenne a year later, I was so sad.
I went 6 years without another dog. I didn't realize that it was the worst 6 years of my life till I got Ryder. Don't let the loss of one keep you from getting another.

no we didnt we got another (rescued) from the pound a lil german shepard lab rotweiler cross and he did make it easier but hes gone from me now too thought but only because me and my girl split so i miss him but hes happy and has a lil kid to play with now as well so a cant be mad :)

Yes, but we've been lucky, our pets usually live near 20 years.

Lost my sweet Rufus...He had an enlarged heart and he could no longer breathe right ,, He struggled for 2 weeks on heart meds....and went back for a re check and they said there was nothing else they could do for him...( tears) so we had him put down....Hard as hell.....just hard as hell...He looked at me to say mommy please !!!!! and I let them take him ...I could not bare watch....I feel sooooo guilty that I refused to be with him ....I know he saw me crying and when I have cried in the past he licked my tears and stayed close by......
That was Monday before last and yesterday in the mail they (animal hospital) sent be a sympathy card....Which had the inscription you have on your blog...I cried again like a baby, then the real clencher was inside they took his paw print and enclosed it with the card....I died all over again....We had him cremated and we pick him up this Thursday...and again we will all cry.
I have 2 more dogs abbey and muffin and they are ageing also.....I can't take any more heart ache... as they are 9 and 11 and I know it is coming.......
Pets are wonderful ...they are the grand babies I never had... But when they are gone I am not sure if I can do this again... we will see....

Thanks keeper....It is so funny everyone says there are sooo many doggies that need a home get another one....and I can't .... Rufus was one of a kind.... I am so sorry about your Milky ... I remember years ago we talked about Milky and my Muffin looking alot alike...and I saw the love you had for him....It is freakin hard to say goodbye to them...I cry or tear everyday....I have two more and they too are just as specials as Rufus was....Lord why did I do this to myself?? Rufus and abbey were rescues....Rufus had special needs and no one wanted him ...so I kept him he was 12 and i had him 10 years....Abbey is a rescue also....and Muffin we bought... I will take a hard long look at cats next time .....Not so dependent....

I understand, Mach... I couldn't even say Milky's name for 2 weeks after she passed...

I have his remains now...I have a little memorial in the corner of the bedroom now where his bed was.... I still tear up and will for many many months I am sure...bless his little heart.... I said a doggie prayer for your milky and my Rufus...I am sure some day we will see them again...

It's been over a year for me and I still try not to think about that day or I will tear up again!!

This is a story about my BF's dog duke ....he was a Jack Russel and he was a sweetie...I loved that dog also... well my friend who lives on a farm let duke out the other night and coyotes got him......I was so sick that we went hunting for the coyote's .. armed with hand guns and rifles we searched the fields ... we found their den and in it was dukes dog tags..... they killed him out back of the barn but took his collar with them???? Just an alert ...I live in Ohio and the coyotes are growing in numbers.... in the den was tons of cats fur and rabbits fur...and other dog collars.....although putting down my sweet rufus was hard...and poor friend sandy was miserable beyond compare....

I'm so sorry,I lost two beloved dogs last summer one to heart disease on July 20 the other to Lymes disease Aug 8.I had a trip planned for a year to Europe on Aug 26 ,I spent a lot of the time turning my head fighting back tears because I knew when I came home my best friends would still be gone...their names are Penny and Poe. please dont feel bad about not holding your baby,you gave it a wonderful life full of happy times,precious memories will surmount your loss in time.
