Have you lost a beloved pet?

Over the last couple of years, quite a few of our Sodahead friends have lost their beloved pet! My most lovable friend lost his sweet little girl just last month- and now.... barely even a week ago, another sweet friend lost her handsome ol' guy, Murphy--!!

It is quite sad that our pets don't have as long life spans as we do.... but they sure do make a grandstanding impression while they're here!!! :)

So, let's all come together and celebrate their lives.. and the impact they made on each of our lives and our families' lives while they were here with us!

Please tell us your favorite thing, or your favorite memory about your furry little friend(s) who's waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge, and let's celebrate their lives & souls~

Lost a dog when I was in high school.....couldn't find her for two weeks of looking....gave up....she was just a 4 month doberman ......ended up finding her though about 4 months later frozen in the bottom of our above ground pool that following spring.....

I did it's been almost a year since I lost my little Mac Daddy as painful as losing any human loved one.

Tell you just HOW MUCH I love my dog! She'll be 14 come January the 1st and it is certainly showing! She has ALWAYS been my shaddow.... 1st one in the car for a ride. 1st one to start wagging her 'stub' when I load up the Kayak.... for she knows we're headed for the river! She won't even cross a bridge over water till she makes SURE I am following her! When I MUST leave her at home, my daughter tells me she just sits at the back door and CRIES until I come back through it!

I love her enough to say that I would rather her go before me! For I understand how much she loves me.... and me her. Living without her will be hard enough for me.... I sure would not want her to "cross that bridge" and not see that Im behind her!

We need to add LBG to the list above! She just lost her Sheppard last night. :(

this may sound morbid but the night before she died, I took her picture. I knew she was dying and there was no good pix of her. I'll see if I can get it uploaded. Thank you.

OMG OS- I don't know what to say!!!!!! Esp about her at Rainbow Bridge!!!! So, so very sad. But you know she will understand when the time comes. And she'll have a LOT of friendly company. ENJOY HER WHILE YOU CAN, AND TAKE LOTS OF PICS!!!

Did/does she have any pups?

Over the years, yes, many. Most recently our Shih Tzu Gabby and our toy poodle Ben, spent a fortune in vet care, but to no avail. Now we have Lila our shelter rescue dog.

It sometimes hits me that people shouldn't outlive their pets...but I know that is not in the cards, unless your pet is a turtle... ;-)

It's almost as bad as losing a child, after having a pet for a long time. I also know that dogs grieve too, I think when our Shih Tzu passed, Ben died of a broken heart 6 months later.

Buddy Boy was relieved of his pain in April. He lost an eye and couldn't see much in the other. He was 14 years. It was a tough choice, but one that was humane. Buddy Boy loved to go with the husband. He didn't want to go with me, because I took him to places he hated. Vet, Groomer. He knew where he was going and would start shaking and panting. I was the mean Mama. So loved and so missed.

I understand and feel your pain...it is still fresh..I know how hard it was to relieve him of his pain...I have done it so many times...it rips my heart out each time...the last one for me was almost a year ago...and still hurts when I think about it...but know it was the last loving thing I could do for an animal that had given me so much, and whose body could no longer keep him going...Bless you...and your husband ...you were loved by an animal...
