At 14. It was the very last week of school and we had exams, and I got the chicken pox. I missed the biggest party my friend's ever had and the first week of my holidays... Not to mention the actual problems with the illness :P
I haven't had them and neither has my son. We seem to have a natural resistance to it. However, this has not stopped me from getting my shingles vaccination which I would recommend for everyone. Anyone who has had chickenpox can get shingles and it is a very painful disorder.
And Mom painted us in Calomine lotion and even made my kid brother wear mittens to stop him from scratching. At the time I thought the Calomine was worse than the Chicken Pox,,,
But a few years ago, despite my son being vaccinated he got a very mild case. I think he had 6 spots. A week later my husband got them and it was AWFUL. So I went to the doctor and they did a blood test, and though the test showed I never had the chicken pox, it also showed that I am naturally immune.
Yay me.
