I think I have, but I can't really remember the circumstances. I've raised my voice at my child many time in public when she doesn't listen. So that's one situation I can remember for sure.

Criticism is only effective when there is something that must be deconstructed, destroyed or dissolved, because it is capable only of harm. When there is something to be constructed, or built, it serves no purpose. And humiliating someone publicly, less still.

Yes, Once when I was 17 a boy kept saying suggestive remarks to me in front of everyone at a party and would not stop. So I finally had enough and told him to shut the hell up and to leave me alone. I was embarrassed afterwards. But everyone laughed and told me , "way to go girl".

And I've got the scars on my tongue to prove it. No, my father always told me that if you have something bad to tell (or yell at) someone that you should take them aside and away from everybody else and handle the matter discretely. When you yell at somebody in front of people, you only end up looking bad yourself in the long run while the person being yelled at is more of a sympathetic sight.

Oh yes many times. Especially if there is a line of people in back of you and some clerk or bank teller is giving you a hard time. Just start sticking up loud enough for your rights and the whole line behind you will join in supporting you. Once I yelled at a man to leave me alone, stop bothering me, told him I did not want any gigolo in front of other people. I yelled at someone outside a court house after a trial and wound up on television. This dentist was trying to pull my tooth, with me almost coming out of the dental chair. He kept yanking and yanking so hard, I became fed up, called him a butcher. People in the waiting room heard me.
