    although very poor form, I just did this although it was email..... and only because the recipient wouldn't take my calls, and was being openly hostile... so in this case the message was more important than the form it was delivered. But typically these types of events should be done in person, in a caring and gentle manner.....

    Yes, but it was a supposed 'friend' and not a romantic partner. I had to do it and I don't regret it.

    I despise confrontations and text messages are direct. If you need to break off a relationship it must be done in a way that can not be interpreted as suggesting any intent other than leaving. There were no reasons to have a person I did not trust in my life.

    I would never break off a romantic relationship with someone I once loved and respected by text message. I might write her a letter and then have a discussion with her.

    THAT is a mighty cowardly way to say GOODBYE to any relationship ..
    (at least have enough respect for the other to say Good-Bye in person in a very calm way .. )

    The height of bad manners.However (surprisingly) understandable.When one chooses to expend themselves in the explotive option of something as personal as choosing a mate to this venue,can you possibly not then think you're not thought of as anything more than expendable yourself? Requiring nothing more than what a few typed words with opposable thumbs requires? I think not AMR
