It's a little frightening at first(handling guns) your always scared you'll shoot by accident........but as you practice you'll get more secure. Also for me I am still not sure about the safety on a gun. I am afraid that it will not work, or it will be switched off, while in my pocket.
I am for the right to bear arms, but what frightens me is that people who have guns in the house also have little kids there often times and accidents of the such are not uncommon. =/
But guns are the only thing that fully protect us from thieves and murderer's......If a gun owner would be mindfull of his/her gun, they would put it in the right place, and/or put a protective device on it. All it takes is just a little thought, and a little money.
Well, you could always install an alarm system. But I keep running this scenario in my mind....will the cops come soon enough? Should I take matters of self defense into my own hands? Well not me per say but I imagine this of other people.
Will the cops come soon enough? The cops will come soon enough to take photos of the carnage, write down clues needed to eventually search for the perpetrators, and make some phone calls to notify clean up crews and keep nosy people away.
Should you take matters into your own hands? You have 2 simple choices.. Stand by and watch your family be raped, tortured and killed along with yourself... or do something to try and stop that from happening and go down fighting.
Me.. I was never much of a audience - - I prefer to be part of the performance.
I was talking about someone having these thoughts CONTEMPLATING on whether to buy a gun, not during an intrusion. I still do not want a gun. And an alarm system would be useful as well, scaring of the intruder because of the call for attention/witnesses the alarm brings.
Yes... There are lots of people afraid of guns... it is OK to be that way... So do install an alarm.. a really LOUD one that also makes lights, and automatically dials 911. Also do have one that has cameras for future identification.
To protect yourself personally :: buy some Bear Mace... one squirt of that crap and the burglar will pee his pants while trying to get away.
Just last weekend.... 100 rounds through my 9mm... another 50 rounds through my 380 ACP, then 20 38 Specials and wrapping up the day with about 50 22 LR's through my old 1947 K22 Masterpiece.
My weapon of choice is an FN automatic rifle 7.62mm caliber with a soft nose copper sheathed shell which causes maximum damage when it leaves the target.
