When I feel like it I get one out of my gun safe and walk outside and shoot it.
I just make sure that i am not aiming at any neighbors buildings, but they are a good distance away.
I have to reload some of my .44/.357 Bain and Davis and see how many I can put through an engine block.
Often! If you are going to handle and shoot them it's important to be comfortable with them. Very important to know how a particular gun you are shooting works mechanically as well.
since the stroke, I am no longer much good with a handgun (tremors...cant trust my hands) but I am still good with a shotgun or shooting prone behind a decent sniper rifle or my favorite .270
I am a good shot. I have to qualify every year to keep my license. Everyone, if your an American citizen with no criminal record, no mental illness or domestic crimes SHOULD own at least one gun.......... learn to protect yourself and your family the LEGAL WAY.
I've fired my beloved All American M16A2 service rifle. Which I know back to front inside and out. I've fired the M1014 beneli self-loading shotgun. REALLY awesome gun. And after firing it my FAVORITE machine gun the M240G 7.62 belt fed general purpuse light machine gun. That thing is LOUD!!!

You just said "gun" not a "real gun", so I've technically shot a gun before. LOL
