I like what I do. There isn't much stress connected to it. So I don't need to unwind, except for dealing with technical computer stuff. I'm totally lost when it comes to that. If I knew how to do it I could save 100 times as many lives as I do now.
Hard to say for sure. As a nurse I was involved in treatment of emergency victims and acute care cases. After a 40 year career I'd like to think I at least helped to save some lives.
Yeah, I think so. The only reason I have to say "think so" is because the guy was "trying" to kill my friend. He already ran him over once with a pick-up truck. But then he went down the road & turned around to come back & run him over again! I saw him coming back at him, so I ran out into the street & pulled my very heavy back pack off & chucked into the windshield so the guy would be distracted. It worked! Spider-webbed the windshield good & he couldn't see. Missed his second try by about 3 feet.
I once saved an adolescent from drowning at a lake north of Dallas but was very circumspect in doing so, not wanting to be drowned by him latching onto me. I was profoundly disappointed that so many people who were much nearer just did nothing.
i did not know it at the time but it was an accident, 3 of us responded to it, we were on our way to scout camp, the ambulance driver told us if we did not do anything, the gal would have perished
I know how to lower cancer pain dramatically and quickly even when narcotics don't work.

A young drugged out guy broke into my house...
I did NOT shoot him.
So I therein, did indeed save his life!
Although, is life did change drastically after that!
