Have you ever quit a job without giving notice, due to just being fed up with the BS?

NO , BUT I'VE BEEN FIRED W/O NOTICE BECAUSE THEY WERE FED UP W/ MINE .

A few times. Usually, I have something lined up, bit sometimes I reach my limit before I have something.

if i had another job lined up right now my boss would get such an earful his ears would be ringing for months after i got done speaking to him! needless to say he would not get a 2 week notice!

...because quitting without giving notice would be both B.S. and unethical as well, not that there aren't legitimate reasons to walk away from a job. For me that would require unethical behavior on the part of my employer.

I worked for a financial company years ago in their office services branch. I got one of those promotion demotions. That is you get a title a lot more work but no increase in pay. The VP of the company promoted me. I knew what he was doing but went along with it for about a month, than I called a friend to line up a new job, and once that was done talked to the VP about a salary increase for the extra work. He told me to wait for around six months to a year and than better things would come my way. I called in the next day and said bye bye, and I don't need you for a reference.

But I have handed someone my name tag and said Good Bye! and walked out

Why the hell would you give notice?

Left a job once because the policies/management were actually making me unhealthy (multiple sick days in one year). I did give notice, while at the same time asking if it was possible not to serve it at the same time. It was granted.

It's about my character and reputation, regardless the circumstances.

Besides, someone someday will ask that company for a reference about me. Better to act wisely.

Once, when I was working at an electrical store when I was 17. It felt good!

Indeed I have, twice and they have both offered me my jobs back too!

Couple of times when I was much younger. Got a little hot under the collar and being young, let the temper fly.

In college, when I worked several different retail jobs to supplement my income.

One job was at a local shoe store, where the manager was a condescending misogynist, who had multiple complaints against him by various employees.

One day, he went just a lil' too far with his snark while responding to an answer I had given him about some new store protocol;



"Well, that's what you get for thinking..."




I was on my way up a ladder to get the most hideous leopard print boots for some customer, when he said that to me; and I snapped.

I jumped off the ladder, threw the boots at him and cursed him out, six ways til Sunday; from the back stock room all the way out the door.

Not my proudest moment, but the guy really had it coming.

I have done this a few times, I also don't put these places down on my applications either

More than once when I was younger. If I got pissed I quit. I also regretted it later and have walked off some very good jobs.

Worked in management for several that plotted firing people over long periods of time without giving them notice that it was coming as well, so didn't feel bad about turning the tables on them.

Agreed, the employer I left had previously hired a temp and had a co-worker train them. After two weeks, when my buddy said he was ready, they fired him. He was making $19/hr and the temp was making $11.

Yeah, that happened a lot. It's pretty sad to watch someone training their replacement, possibly suspecting they could be replaced but never being told so until it's done. I've also seen people laid off for the winter slow season in the tourist town where I worked, and then when people would come back to regain their jobs they would tell them they weren't calling back yet, even though they were, but simply had no intention of rehiring that particular person. They would come back in a week or so, then another week, and the whole time they could have been spending that time finding a new job if only they had been told the truth. I have no use for the corporate world.

Worked a Dunkin Donuts many moons ago. Manager playing favorites with some employees letting them come late every damn day. They were my relief. Co-Workers with bad attitudes. One day I'd had enough, walked in with my uniform, put it on the desk and said "I'm done here."
Only thing that sucked was that the supervisor I liked was working when I did that. He didn't blame me at all. I was so hoping the manager would have been there so I could have told that bleached blonde bimbo what to go do with herself. Hell I ran into the store's owner a few weeks later and even HE didn't blame me for leaving. He even offered me the job back because he went and trained a whole new crew, fired all the problem people, promoted the super I liked to manager and fixed everything. But i had already started a new job that I liked so I couldn't go back.

yep. Walked out in a blaze of glory, and with a loud declaration of all that was wrong with the place of employment... did if feel good? absolutely..... would I do it again? not likely...

Some things simply shouldn't be tolerated.

Do employers give you notice when they plan to fire you? Not sure why people feel so obligated to do the same for employers especially those that mistreat their employees.

No, it was a matter of personel integrity, not to mention that kind of activity can have a negative effect on future employment opportunities.

There is no loyalty from employers towards employees these days and when they fire people they are gone the exact same day.

Funny, I've never had that problem. Each employer has always done everything they could to keep me with them. Only reason I left the last one was my department was being reorganized and moved and I didn't want to work in any of the other available positions. So I took the offered severance package and the option for early retirement.

No, but I don't see anything wrong with it. There are times I've later wished I had walked out on a job.

MANY times...latest was Pizza Hut a few years back....they made stealth calls and the district manager got p#ssed because i wasn't using suggestive selling....I replied.
.'you ain't talking to me...you are talking to the next guy...bye bye'

Yes. I just walked out once. It was a sales job and I was on contract, not an employee, so I was withing my rights.

I've surely been tempted but I never have. One job I quit and they just cut me a check and sent me home because they were always afraid of what you'd do in the last two weeks. I already had another job but he knew that I knew some horrible things that he'd done. I did get my revenge when I was a key witness at another fired employees age discrimination trial. They took a statement from me and settled the next day. I knew where the bodies were buried, figuratively of course! LOL!

Once. It was the right thing to do at the time for myself and my family but I'm really not proud of the way I did it. I even went back and apologized. I know he was surprised I apologized. I think he was even more surprised when I told him I was registered in college and didn't beg him for my job back.
