I've lost several of my beloved pets that passed away several years ago.
I lost my beautiful English Springer dog and four of my precious cats.
I still think of them today and whenever I do I cry because I love them and miss
    them so much. :(

So many have died, but only 2 ran away. When I was a child 2 ran away. I lost 2 beautiful kitties last year, one to cancer and one suddenly most likely to a brain anyurism. I cry about them often when I think of them. They were both young cats. Bunny 6 months old http://images.sodahead.com/pr... Tiny Lady

Several pets. A wire-haired terrier died from parvo; my calico cat who had gotten old; my two favorite fishes, a red swordtail and an algae eater. I gave the algae eater a proper burial...in a matchbox buried under a tree. It was sorely missed.
I had a white cat I took in as a stray. Didn't have her long when a car backed into her and sprained her hind leg. She ran away soon after that accident.

I had a dog that disappeared for awhile then came home, but I've had many pass away over the years, enough that my yard would qualify as a pet cemetery.

I've lost many in the 28 years I've been alive.
2 dogs, 3 birds, a kitten, a snake, many fish, and our most beloved frog. All were a part of the family and I still miss them.

I almost did last night. The person I live with got a dog the other week and from then my cat has pretty much been different. I've had him for 6 years and he's always been more like my little dog cause he listens and answers when you talk to him but since the dog has been there my bf and I have had to spend at least an hour or more outside looking for him usually at 11 at night and lately his been roaming further and further from the house and he doesn't answer to my calls. I was actually so worried last night. I've never been like that and even started crying. I can't imagine how it would feel if I lost him or someone took him. So that’s why atm he's locked in my room. I may have to put him into a cattery until I move out but at least I know where he is :(

I've lost several pets to old age and illness. It's heartbreaking.
Luckily my pets never disappeared on me and I don't even want to think what it would be like to have them run away or being stolen. I'm sure I would turn this city upside down to find them.

I lost a dog when I was a little kid. They never found him. I still wonder what happened to him. He was a beautiful little red dog - I was probably 6 years old and still morn for him. I have had a bunch of dogs since them and loved all of them but they never got lost! I had them all till the end. The last was the worst. Had to put him to sleep. However I still wonder about that little red dog..

Technically she was stolen. She was a Boarder Collie with one blue eye and one brown so in the AKC's eyes she was flawed but I thought she was beautiful.
I happen to know for a fact she was stolen because she was kept in a covered running cage outside, and it was locked in such a way that only someone with thumbs could open it. I just figured no one would be gutsy enough to come in our yard ( the cage was right in plain sight of our house) that and I was only 10 at the time, I miss her so much

Unless a hamster that got loose and was missing for a couple of days, counts. However a few dear pets have passed away, passing of my dog effected me more than my Terrapane that fell victim to birds, its life I suppose. (-_-)

I've had many live their life and then pass on, but I never lost one, as in having to put up a poster, ,or look in the lost and found section of the paper.

If lost is the word: I have a male cat, two years ago, he was on the balcony, watching birds - after 10 minutes he was gone. I was practically out of my mind, it was Friday afternoon, I kept going outside and called him, tried to lure him with his favorite treats - no effect. In the morning, the need was obviously stronger than fear, I heard him, and he run to me like a long lost son - hungry and needy (no Whiskas in the "wilderness ok, I get it, but first thing he did, he run to his litter box?! Was it really necessary to bring that home to?), but not hurt. He avoided the balcony for a week, and slept in his travel box - probably a form of PTSP - JK, I think he threw himself chasing the bird, he was younger then.

yea, my dog and i was devastated. I was sitting on my computer printing 'LOST' flyers and I looked out of my window and saw someone walking him down the street right in front of my house! I ran outside and chased them down. I think they were seriously trying to keep him. They had just bathed him, and he had on a new collar! Turns out these people just lived a few houses down on the corner! I couldn't believe it. I was just happy to have my dog back

I WAS BABY SITTING MY SON'S AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD ONE SUMMER. HE WATCHED US OPEN THE DRIVEWAY GATE FOR A FEW DAYS.... AND OF COURSE, EVENTUALLY HE UNLATCHED THE LOCK, AND DECIDED TO TAKE A JOURNEY WITH MY DAD'S BLUE SILKIE THROUGH ABOUT 8 MILES OF MAJOR L.A. CITY TRAFFIC TO THE HILLS NEAR LOYOLA UNIVERSITY.... WE WERE LUCKY, A WOMAN CALLED US ONE EVENING (BOTH DOGS HAD I.D. WITH PHONE NUMBERS), SAID SHE'D HOLD THEM IN HER BACK YARD... BARKLEY WAS HAPPY TO SEE US AND HOPPED IMMEDIATELY INTO THE CAR, BUT DAD'S DOG, TEACHUM WAS A "RUNNER," AND READY TO TAKE OFF AGAIN! HE EVENTUALLY GAVE IN AND DECIDED TO GO HOME TOO....CRAZY LITTLE POOCH. BOTH DOGS LIVED LONG LIVES AND HAVE PASSED ON....PROBABLY COVERING EVERY MILE POSSIBLE UP THERE.
