I would never hit a live one if I could avoid it, but if I see a dead animal on the road, I make it a point to hit it again. You never really know if roadkill is actually dead, and I can't stand the thought of it lying there suffering.

Waiting on the insurance company to call me back now. I hit a wolf. Going about 35, it spun from where I hit it on the passenger side of my car around to hit the driver's side. It also busted the fog-light ring and busted some plastic underneath the front bumper.

Yes - - hit a rabbit on the dragstrip during a race doing about 167mph. It looked as if a pissed-off husband smashed my headlight with a fur covered sledge hammer!

:( Twice. The first time, a dog ran in front of my car, I avoided hitting it at first, stopped my car in time. It crossed the street and as soon as I started to go, it ran under the car. It was running with a stray pack and the rest of them stood on the side of the road and called to him. I tried to help, but he bled out and died within seconds. I was depressed for days afterwards. The second time, I was on the highway and a bird flew in front of my car. Poor little cardinal didn't have a chance. :( Sometimes, it's fate. Doesn't make it any less sad, though...

I hit 3 animals at 1 time actually but they were suicidal. They were kittens and they all 3 jumped right out in front of me I had no time to stop or swerve. I was so sad that I cried. I like animals its people I dont like.

I hit a deer not too long after I got my licence. I had just pulled out of my driveway so I wasn't going very fast when I hit it. It ran off, so I'm just going to assume that it was okay.

A dog ran out in front of my car years ago. The owner had just let the dog off the leash (though there was a leash law in the town) and it just darted out into the street.

I never have but a couple of months ago while driving with my father on the highway this rat darted out in front of the car and since we couldn't stop the car ran over it and we knew we hit it because we heard a pop sound. My father, being the ass he is tried to joke about it as if it were funny. I felt so horrible about it.

Sadly a cat ran out in front of me and as I braked it turned round and ran back so I was unable to avoid it. It died instantly. It really upset me and I was in floods of tears by the time I got home.

I would have been too T-T. I had a friend that hit and killed a cat and absolutely refused to drive for at least....2 or 3 weeks...maybe a little longer. I forget. We both cried together.
