When I was in my early twenties--I decided to get a tan in one day. I laid in the sun all day without any protection. I am very fair skin. I turned blood red and a few hours later I could not move for the pain and huge blisters all over my body. Ugh! My parents took me to the doctor. I could not drive. It took me amost a month to get well. I had to take anitbotics and cream. I was a mess. My tan was beautiful--I forgot to take a picture. Lol

Yep....back in '78, after living in Germany (no sun) for 2 years, we came back on "home leave"; I convinced a friend to take me to Ocean City MD to I could go back to Germany tan. Cloudy day, laid on the beach for 6 hours, rotating every 30 minutes. I ended up with big blisters all over and when that skin peeled, I looked like I had leprosy

I don't know what sun poisoning is. Severely burned tops of my feet needed a doctor and once vacationing in Florida a rash on my legs was diagnosed as an allergy-like reaction to the sun. But no doctor has ever mentioned sun poisoning.

We get more sun than we need just because of where we live so we avoid it as much as possible. Hats, and even umbrellas if we have to stand outside any length of time.

When I took antibiotics for a long time, I use to get very bad sun burns, like 3 degree. I have gotten really sick in the sun and I cover up when I am out side. I have frog belly white skin.

A few sun burns but no sun poisoning. I have a few sun spots that are not growing.

When I was in 8th grade, our family took a trip to Florida, and with us all being from the Chicago area, our skin fried in the first day. We all got very sick, and my mom, who was even less use to the sun, ended up in the ER. All that burning took place with the strongest sunscreen they made in 1973. What a trip that turned out to be.

Did you by chance consume lime in some form? It makes skin react to sun more.

I don't believe so. Our whole family is very fair skinned, and I guess we weren't use to the Florida sun.

I was living in Florida, worked outside everyday, did not get sunburned until after I had too much lime juice.

That's pretty bizarre, I have never heard that before. I know it wasn't lime juice for our family, I don't think we had any lime juice. All I remember is having a blast playing on the beach, and by the time we started getting ready for dinner, everybody started blistering up, had chills, and started shaking uncontrollably. As I said before my mom was worse because she was actually throwing up, and we ended up at the ER.

Key Lime Pie sounds good, but we didn't eat any of that either. I don't believe I ever tried Key Lime Pie before my early 20's, on a cruise ship. The terrible sun experience happened when I was 13. Man, I can't believe that was almost 40 years ago, where did all the time go?

Not that I know of... unless...

If you are referring to a sunburn, then yes, I have had a few in my younger years, now I'm much more careful... I have a friend who is very sensitive to the sun, she would say she is allergic, if that is so, it's not very bad, especially considering where we live (at 6000+ feet in the high desert)...

When family says to put on a shirt or sunblock, don't ignore them.

It is possible to get 2nd degree burns from the sun.

Like the typical redness and pain plus blistering. Also headaches, nausea, faintness, and dehydration. At least that's what I experienced. O.o
