Have you ever had food poisoning?

When I was single I should have known better, Don't eat the science experiment in the frige.

Eating fish from a restaurant.

Yes and it put me in the hospital. We had pizza and salads at a favorite place. And the lettuce from the salad gave me salmonella. Was sick for days couldn't keep anything down or in. I became dehydrated got dizzy and couldn't breath, spent several days in the hospital. Got the home visit with questions from FDA and all. They trace back to the places where you ate. And connect the dots if others were sick who went to a same place.

I have had Salmonella Poisoning, i think it was caused through taking a sample of sausage roll at a bakery counter. I would never wish this on anyone, i thought i was dying, i could only sit on the toilet for hours, mostly water gushing out then passing blood. The pain was horrendous. I lost over a stone within a few days. After a few days of taking very strong antibiotics i started to feel a bit better but it took a couple of weeks before i felt well.

I'm pretty sure that the sickest I have ever been was a result of food poisoning. It took over 2 weeks to be able to keep any kind of food down (other than broth and crackers) and get over the runs. I'm pretty sure I dropped 30 or 40 lbs from that. No, I don't suggest it as a diet. When the stuff coming out of your mouth smells worse than the stuff coming out of your butt, you know you're not well.

It was from a Mexican restaurant in California (a rather nice one at that too). We had the dinner buffet and the doc said it probably came from the salsa or the sour cream sitting out too long.

Mine was salmonella--about 24 hours of living in the bathroom holding a bag, just in case. Awful, but my mom got e-Coli food poisoning which, at her age (she was in her 80's) was far worse. She ended up in the hospital for several days.

I ate at a buffet. It was probably the shrimp. It was 20-hours before I could eat anything again.

I was at a friends house for dinner in Saigon, VN. He was grilling an assortment of seafood on what I'll call a Hibatchi Grill. I think he took some clams or snails off too soon. by 1am I was heaving my guts out. My wife called a cab and she and her aunt took me to the nearest hospital...they wouldn't admit me because I was an American and sued too much...so I had to go to a private clinic for foreigners. They did take great care of me...gave me iv's for dehydration and some pills that stopped my puking and another that took care of what was left in my stomach. Cost me about $100....where as normal VN hospital would have been about $15-$20.

Sorry to say I have and it was no fun.

Eating oysters straight off the rocks went well for a while...one bad one put me on the deck for days.! oooooh.!! I never wanna do that again. Yeeesh.!!

I swear, I think I might be immune. Where I'm from, raw oysters are a delicacy. I eat them probably about once a month. One time my entire family ate raw oysters at dinner, including myself, and I was the only one who didn't get sick.

If they're fresh they're fine.

On a plane. Just threw up right in the aisle. My dad managed to grab a barf bag in time, though.

and i gave it to myself making meatloaf....the meat didn't smell THAT bad! Lol!

Question is: how long did you cook it for?

7 years ago and I haven't been able to eat at Burger King since. UGH!

A smothie once did that me.I can not eat from that brand.btw i do not know what the brand name is of my head but i know it when i see it!

i don't remember what it was that got me ... but i was having the same symptoms ... i went to the ER and got something ... which eventually gave me an allergic or overdose reaction and i ended up in another ER a couple of days later ... a shot of benadryl in the rear end and presto changeo it was gone ... scared the living excrement out of me: swollen tongue and throat, difficulty breathing, inability to talk ...

Some of my friends many times have called to ask how sick I was because we eat the same things but I never was sick.

Which is a big misnomer. When I had my bout, the rest of me was fine, but the digestive system was in complete chaos. The "flu" would indicate that I'm actually sick all over. That was the worst part of the food poisoning - I felt otherwise fine, but I had to be near a toilet almost constantly.

I considered renting a motor home so I could leave the house and have a toilet with me...

And, I'm glad I never had it, too. I bet it's a horrible feeling indeed.
