    Sill do unfortunately. Anyone who says they "want" to be anorexic, or think it's a choice that you can make, is an idiot. No one wants to live like this. What I wouldn't do to love myself and live, because this isn't living.

    I have been anorexic for 4 years because every one said I was fat, ugly, and I look like a boy. I have been overcoming it but some days I don't want to.

    My very best friend suffered from anorexia and was admitted into an eating disorders treatment facility called Rader that literally brought her back to life. I think once someone is deep in their own disease like eating disorders, it really takes professional medical help to make a true recovery.... My advice to anyone with an eating disorder would be to seek treatment right away...

    I was very concerned about weight and would keep it off, but the two don't sound close to what I had

    My biological mother has been battling it since she gave birth to me and I have been battling it since I dropped 20 lbs in a short period of time after a bad breakup. I saw how easy the weight came off from not eating and then became obsessed with fasting and calorie-counting. I have now dropped over 140 lbs, but am still overweight, so only my doctor, psychiatrist and a few friends know. I'm pretty open about it online, though.

    I have a habit of not eating sometimes because I've forgotten. I don't know if that'd count or not.

    It doesn't... and trust me, you don't want it to. You never forget to eat with anorexia... in fact, you never stop thinking about food... you just avoid it with all your power and grow to despise it; you become weary of food and avoid places in which it may tempt you.

    I cook and love food very much. Never felt the compulsion to do harm to myself through food but I understand it could happen to anyone when one feels that she/he is losing control of her/his life and it is very difficult to overcome without medical/psychological intervention. Rare in men but more common among young women.

    I never got thin XD
    But I had anorexia when I lived in a City town where I was always ruthlessly picked on for my weight, os I cracked under pressure;
    I was in 7th grade...I only made it 3 days without eating before I passed out and found myself in the hospital the next morning...where I was left for a week being FORCE FED.
    It was aweful /:

    Are you actually a nun? If so, do you know if any nuns are affected by anorexia or bulima? Sisters have less focus on their bodies, I would assume, but since eating disorders have genetic ties and can also be linked to childhood and teenage years, I'm curious to know if it also affects nuns.

    I got close to having Anorexia when I was 16/17. My doctor said I didn't have it. But I'm still not really sure. As my periods stopped. I'm 5.5 and weighed 97 pounds.

    You most likely have anorexia... I say 'have' because it doesn't disappear... the obsession, or the potential for obsession, is always present. I'm glad you're better now. :-)
