Have you ever enabled and encouraged homelessness by giving the homeless money?

Hey, have you ever been homeless!? (I have)

I give money and/or food and/or socks and/or hats, scarves, and gloves in the winter...and if I don't have any of that stuff, I at least say hello.

For me, the right thing to do is to help. In whatever way I can, whether it be a few dollars or cents, or a sandwich. If the person I am trying to help is running a scam, or buying drugs, that's on them, not on me. I chose to do the right thing. My karma and soul is good.

When I find money on the ground I always give it to someone whose on the side of the road, it wasn't mine to begin with. I've actually bought someone a soda on a hot day because they were standing outside of a grocery store parking lot and down here, it gets mighty hot. I can't just pass someone up if their in need and if they weren't, ah well.

Many people who have had the misfortune to participate in the act of compulsory homicide adopt a deep kindness that gives them comfort in a world filled with selfishness and ignorance, Imagine a Jesus type character who could split a head in two with an entrenching tool one moment and offer their last scrap of food to you in the next... Just like the water spout they can turn it on and off.

Not every single homeless person is in that position because of their own doing, I know a majority of them are in that position because of their choices, but there are a select few who do have legitimate reasons, It is not right or fair to belittle them like you did in this question. I firmly believe that everybody needs to pull their own weight, earn their keep in life, There are many who do not want to help themselves, I lose my compassion when I see how little motivation they have to get out of their situation, but those who try to get out of their situation, I would gladly do what I can to help. And work is not obtainable for everyone, some places there are job shortages, some people have little to no education, what do homeless people have to wear at a job interview? Old rags? Im sure that would make quite the impression on a potential employer. Your proposed plan A should be offering job training, counseling, donations of clothing that would be appropriate enough for a interview, don't have to be a 3000.00 Armani suit, just something that would at least make them look presentable. You can't just expect them to go out and get a job, it is not that easy, most of them I would assume wouldn't even have a phone to take the call if they get hired. Give them some help to get back on their feet(the ones who actually want help) and hopefully they would be inspired enough to do the same for the next person they see in their former shoes.

I give them food. That way they can't buy drugs, but they won't starve.

Well, yeah. Seeing as I'm 14 and thus jobless. I would think that most adults, homeless or not, make more than me.

Easy for you to say. You are not homeless. I saw a homeless man go straight for a sandwich right after recieving money.

Aww - that is heartbreaking - and it is going to get worse. Wish we could do more
