I was not an atheist at the time, but had a firm grasp of science.
Long story short, I was confirmed Lutheran after squeezing my future wife's had so hard it almost hurt her when I had to "admit" I believed the Earth was only 6000 years old. *sigh* I swore I would never do that again. But, got married in that Church, never went back for another service again.
This first wife passed away in her 30's (cancer). I am happily remarried, two kids. This time, we had a ceremony by a Judge. ;-)
I didn't plan to, but since I have been married to my Husband for such a long time, I have recently start to think he could be from another planet. lol.
I've always have there aren't many other Asatruars in my area, I've dated a Christian which was cool though her parents didn't approve not that she cared lol I've dated atheists too and a Hindu which went really well cuz her parents loved me so it's never been a problem
I'm an atheistic Zen Buddhist (I don't believe in any god but I follow the teachings of Zen) and I've dated a Shinto practicer (went well), Christian (not so well), Jewish (pretty well), and Pagan (OK I guess.)
I've been out with a few who wanted their children to attend church, but as far as I know nobody I've dated has been particularly religious. I imagine they would have known better than to demand my participation.

I did date an atheist, too, and it went fine.
