I chocked on a plum core in either 1st or second grade during lunch. I managed to dislodge it after forcing out a cough with what air I had left inside.

Yes it is, and I get choked all the time. The last serious choking episode I had, I was in the beauty parlor, and got choked, couldn't breathe, my throat just closed up. Scared everyone to pieces, I know what to do, but it takes a while, and that day my throat just locked up and I couldn't breathe. Wasn't eating anything, no gum, nothing. Very scary.

No, sometimes I just choke on my saliva. And it's been happening for a long time. I know what to do....I just keep trying to take deep breaths and try to relax, but not easy to relax when you;re choking. At the beauty salon, another customer ran over to me, took my hand and keep telling me to relax, and that helped. The beautician was in a panic, she wanted to call 911, I kept shaking my head because I knew eventually my throat would relax. One time it was so bad by husband took me to the emergency room. But by the time I got there I was breathing again. That was probably the worse scare ever.
