I haven't but some have; anywhere from changing beliefs to forsaking any religious beliefs. I know people who completely gave up the faith they were raised in and converted to another. What's your experience?

Neither did I and I had studied many different religions throughout the years. I am also a Deist myself.
Thanks for an excellent and insightful post!

Yes I was catholic, than I came to the realization that I could not have faith in a God that demanded I obey my husband and follow him around as master, and who will condemn me in a eternal fiery pit for using the will he gave me in the first place. not to mention this entity claims to love me yet wants to see me burn. What the hell is that? So I became Pagan!

The Abrahamic religions are very patriarchal, and Catholicism is no exception.
Your journey makes perfect sense and is very interesting! Thanks for sharing!

That's fascinating! I've known others that have done the same, and feel happier because of it. Thanks!

I am currently atheist ( which well isn't a religion ), but I was Christian as a child into my early teens. I never really believed the bible. Became an atheist around my junior year in high school. I took a comparative religions class in college, and it really opens your mind and really kind of reaffirmed my choice to becoming atheist. All the religions try to prove why they are right, but none more than Christianity. I think if any religion makes me want to know a little more about their religion and culture it's between Buddhism and Taoism. Mostly because of the peace aspect involved. Basically I would just like to know about it, but not really practice it.

Depends on what aspect of Buddhism you want to know, but some branches are more about lifestyle than deity worship.
You know, I think all colleges should have that comparative religions class. It's shame they don't. Thanks.

It wasn't really a change in my opinion. I don't think I ever really believed it with my brain. I was a catholic(because my mother told me I was) but I really started to doubt the bible after learning that fairy tales weren't real. I tried on Wiccan for a month and decided that I couldn't aptly prove any gods. I decided It was better not to believe in anything. I acknowledge the possibility, but call myself an atheist because of lack of evidence.

I'm not trying to tell you how you should believe but I think you may lean more towards agnostic.
The A prefix, is a nullification, or inversion of sorts. Thus an A Theist, believes there is nothing beyond (or no theory). Gnostic means; Knowledge, thus Agnostic means, well, you don't know.

I abandoned Christianity for Wicca, a form of Pagan.

I like homosexuals and do not think it is wrong. (I myself am Bi). I do not think that sex is sinful before marriage. I don't want a religion that declares "the man is in charge of the household", because either sex could be qualified of "being in charge" it should not be the same all the time. I don't want a religion that I have to practice because I'm scared of being banished to hell.
If you believe in Christianity, please just ignore my post. I don't want to offend anyone.

    well actually a dicionaly definition
re·li·gion/riˈlijən/Noun: 1.The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods.
2.Details of belief as taught or discussed.
when you believe the theory of evolution it is your belief

It depends on how you define religion and religious belief. Some people do take their own personal philosophies and make it like a religion, but that wasn't what I was getting at.

Originally though, evolution is a scientific theory. I don't think Darwin intended for evolution to be a religion, but rather a explanation of human origins. That's all.

Yes. I was raised Christian. It was a whole lifestyle. In 1987 I changed to New Age. By 1993 I was unsure about everything. I had an awful boyfriend that tore down everything that meant anything to me. Any faith I had in anything was gone. Starting in 2000 I began to recover from the trauma. I do not subscribe to any faith or religion. My beliefs are eclectic.
