Have you ever bought anything that looked delicious and were disappointed when you tasted it?

Summer is here is Southern California, prompting the locals to stop off and find refreshing drinks to tote. On my way to work I stopped off at Whole Foods to grab a snack and juice. In the juice aisle i saw this drink that look so refreshing I had to have it, and since I was running late I didn't read the label, all I saw was organic Kombucha and assumed it to be a exotic fruit. I paid and then high tailed it to work. Mouth watering I took a huge gulp of this foreign juice and choke it down. It tasted like vinegar and had slimy stuff floating in it. I did a google search on Kombucha and it turns out that Kombucha "is the Western name for sweetened tea or tisane that has been fermented by a macroscopic solid mass of microorganisms called a "kombucha colony," usually consisting principally of Bacterium xylinum and yeast cultures. " I just swallowed a lump of bacteria, I'm feeling really gross and highly disappointed... :0(

Luckily at a restaurant, you can send the food back - before a good portion of it has been eaten and get something else.
The things that dissappoint me the most are desserts that you buy, that looked SO good, but were just average in taste.

This one time I had a dollar and I was at Walgreen's. I was hungry and I quickly spotted the pound cake loaf. It was marbled vanilla, as the package said. Looked wonderful, but i was sooooo wrong...after i bought it for a dollar, and tasted it, i spit it out and trew it! it was the most disgusting thing EVER.

I got this queso dip at the store which looked pretty good. Then I tried it earlier today. I think I'm going to have to go shopping again tomorrow.

The Sun Maid chocolate-covered raisins at the AMC movie theaters. They look like Raisinets, but taste like Raisinets left on someone's dashboard for a month then dipped in mop water.

Yes, quite often I'll be disappointed in a choice that looked appealing. It's still worth trying new things because of the times when you're not disappointed. Sometimes a food will be so tasty that it will wildly exceed your expectations. Those experiences make any number of disappointments worthwhile.

THIS QUESTION MADE ME THINK OF THE TV DINNERS I WOULD BRING HOME LATE AT NIGHT YEARS AGO. THE PICTURE ON THE CARDBOARD CONTAINER MADE IT LOOK LIKE MAMA JUST MADE IT FOR YOU. TALK ABOUT FALSE ADVERTISING!

yes even the fruit now days it looks good but when you get home, clean it up and eat it ....its just not what it should have been !

once I went to this Thai place that my girl was always trying to get us to go to swearing they made the best pad thai. When we finally went it was so gross the noodles weren't cooked all the way and the sauce was oily with no flavor, she finally admitted that she had never been there and was judging based off the pictures in the restaurant.

I HAVE HAD MANY PEACHES THAT LOOKED GREAT AND HAD NO FLAVOR AT ALL AND WERE VERY DRY..I HAVE HAD OTHER THINGS THAT LOOKED GOOD BUT WEREN'T I JUST COULDN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE RIGHT NOW.

I have noticed that with all kinds of fruit. I hate that! My taste buds start salvitating for the sweetness of the fruit, and you bite in and it tastes like cardboard.
I also hate when you bite into a carrot and it tastes like dish soap.

dish soap : ) I know exactly what ya mean about fruit. I bought a big bag of apriocots awhile back most were bland even though they seemed ripe they didn't start to taste good until they started to wrinkle up. But then most rotted before I got them ate. I love them chopped up in wheaties!
