My late husband was an abusive alcoholic, silly me I thought I could save him from himself. He would get very drunk and beat me. I quickly learned that if you punch an alcoholic in the nose he will bleed profusely often into his stomach which causes vomiting - which in turn stops the beating in its tracks. In one instance my children called the police and even though I was Bruised all over my face, arms & chest. The cops arrested me! I was lucky my Stepson came with me to explain what was really going on.
