Has your doctor ever prescribed you medicine for pain and it didn't do a thing?

I was prescribed Lyrica for nerve pain and I haven't felt a thing.

I hardly ever take medication of any kind, but when I had two teeth pulled a couple weeks ago, they gave me hydrocodone. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy and I laid drooling in my chair staring at the TV for three hours.

I was prescribed a pain killer many years ago when I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed. It did no more for me than aspirin. I've had other pain killers prescribed for a herniated disk since then, and they work no better than Advil. As a result, I only take anything over-the-counter meds for pain.

I get headaches as a result of brain surgery I had a couple years ago and he prescribed a painkiller and I think if anything it made them worse.

I've never needed a doctor to tell me i'm having menstrual cramps, but I have taken medicine to help with it and It did nothing to help me.

I don't like painkillers much anyway... they always give me stuff that has tylenol in it, so I can't take enough for them to be effective.

About that Lyrica... my dad takes gabapentin when his trigeminal neuralgia flares up, says it works pretty well. You don't think pregabalin is very effective, eh?

Gabapentin is the generic for Lyrica I think . When I took it I had just eaten and someone told me sometimes the food will interfere with the medicine sometimes, so next time I'm gonna try on and empty stomach.

I've read that they can take a while to work-- sure hope it does the trick for you. I know how bad neuropathic pain is... and how frustrating, too.

Some pills react differently in different people, while they may help some they won't do anything for others and then some have adverse reactions. You should talk to your doctor about it, maybe they can give you something else or figure out what will work best for you.

Someone told me not to take it when I eat, which I did they said it may counter react the drug taking effect on me.
