Happy New Year ! Now Rave this if you believe anyone who drinks/drugs and drives is a selfish, irresponsible A$$hole.

Since I have formally been one of these people and now do not I'm probably harder on those that do than some. However, I knew that I was impaired and was very cautious looking to the sides or behind me before changing lanes or backing up. I would pull over and sleep it off if I couldn't stay in my lane. But most of those driving under the influence actually feel that they are in more control and that is even more dangerous if that is possible. Those addicted to substances are selfish and ignore the problems their abuse causes family, friends and other. These people and me at one time are slaves to the addictions and at the time literally have no choice but to abuse. But help is out there but unfortunately we only seek it when things cannot get much worse. Oddly enough though I found cigarettes harder to quit that all of the substance I abused. After I gave these things up I continued my addictions in various sports and hobbies as I do everything in an addictive manor. It is a genetic fact in my gene make up and I have to stay away from substance completely, theres no other way.

Where I live, on New Year's Eve, and day morning, I suppose, 247 people were pulled over by the highway patrol.

7 received DUIs.

Would I like to see the number be zero? Of course, but that is still pretty good. Gives me hope that people are learning.

Totally agree as anyone who drives while drunk or high is not only risking his/her own life but the lives of others. Probably the only people who would argue that it's ok are those who drive drunk or high.

Won't use that last word but YES Drinking and Driving is Irresponsible and those that do and cause the death to another person, being found Guilty in a Court of Law should loose their ability to drive a car for life.

I believe that people that drink or do drugs... even prescribed ones... Really just dont understand the position they are putting themselves and others into... it is beyound their scope of comprehension at that moment

Don't have a problem if they want to kill themselves, but they normally live while they kill innocent people.

A man ,here,was on dope,ran across the center line,killed a fourteen year old girl.He spent one year in jail,got out, got on dope,the next day he ran across the center line and killed a fifteen year old girl.

Reason for the death penalty.

Especially where I live, the drunks can get a free ride home by all our taxi cabs as they donate the service just for this holiday.

Cops were all over the roads here. No way you would get away with it.

According to Police stats---over 50% of all drivers on the roads are legally drunk after 10 pm on New Years eve---They can't pull everybody over

Maybe in America NOT HERE. We have roadside breath testing everywhere.

Don't forget drivers who talk on the phone; text; apply cosmetics; change the cd in the player; and all the other distractions that can kill. If you do any of those things while driving, you are no better in my eyes than a drunk driver.
